Sign the petition to save 50 Cedar St - the St. James African Orthodox Church. Developers have filed to demolish the building and replace it with condos. Sign the petition to have this building landmarked and save it.
15 Kenilworth. ISD Commissioner Christopher met with neighbors at the site to go over ongoing concerns about whether the project needs a variance. Write letters to ISD to support full public oversight of this project that appears to have been allowed to proceed without a zoning hearing.
Marcella E+ Housing. The neighborhood has requested an extension of the comment period so that all can participate with an easier online forum. Stay tuned for details.
Hawthorne Youth and Community Center will have a Paint & Plant Fundraiser on June 3rd from 2pm-5pm. www.paintandplant.art for tickets and information. Boston Pride Week celebrates the diversity and cultures of people from all identities and cultures. This nonprofit is organizing a set of informative and fun events at City Hall from June 1st to June 10th. To learn more click here.

Plan:Dudley. The Roxbury Strategic Master Plan Oversight Committee will vote on the RFP’s for the 4 BPDA owned parcels in Dudley Square on Mon. June 4. More information here.
Zumba in Gertrude Howes Park will begin Tues. June 5, 6:00 PM. Thank you to Roxbury Path Forward and Mt. Pleasant, Forest and Vine Sts. Neighborhood Association for working with the city to bring this event to Howes Park. The Boston Public Health Commission in partnership with the Department of Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce expanded opportunities for fitness in Boston neighborhoods. The expanded program will provide 30 classes per week, including Zumba in Gertrude Howes Park on Tuesdays.
Bring Roxbury's History Alive By Supporting a New Mobile App. Greater Grove Hall Main Streets and Boston Main Streets are working together to raise $5,000 to develop an app that will help people discover the many historical sites between Grove Hall and Dudley Square. Call to All Artists. The City of Boston released a request for proposal for a public art project to add to the renovations currently taking place on the Dudley Branch of the Boston Public Library. Artists from Roxbury are encouraged to apply and should submit proposals before June 8th. To learn more about this RFP click here!
Community Podcast Lab. This fall, young people from Roxbury, Dorchester and Mattapan are encouraged to participate in a 15-week multimedia program that will help youth interested in media gain skills in this field. The Community Podcast Lab is organized by the Futuro Media Group, a nonprofit dedicated to creating content that empowers young people and celebrates diversity in our communities. The next Roxbury Path Forward Neighborhood Association Meeting is Tues. June 12, 6:30 PM in the Community Room at the B2 Police Station in Dudley Square. Consider broadening our neighborhood connections by getting to know people in the Moreland/Mt. Pleasant Districts at this meeting.

Upcoming Events:
The Roxbury Sunflower Project: This project will bring nature, beauty, and color to Roxbury through a community wide sunflower planting -- up to 1000 new sunflowers will grow in Roxbury -- and I'll create six new works of art to hang in the windows of the Freedom House at Crawford and Warren Streets in October that reflect the themes of the project. This will be a collective community action. The plantings will take place on public and private property through families, organizations and agencies that sign up to participate and I hope you'll join me at our launch, June 2nd from 11:00 – 2:00pm at the Grove Hall Branch of the Boston Public Library.Contact Ekua Holmes :www.roxburysunflower@gmail.com
