How do I remove / delete 'continue watching' shows within The Roku Home Screen. First, they had the search box at the top of all the Apps on the home screen which was a stupid idea. They got smart and remove the search box, but they replaced it another stupid idea, "Continue watching". How can we remove it from the Roku Home Screen?
The "Continue Watching" feature on the Roku home screen is part of the Roku Operating System; thus, removing it is impossible. Please be advised that some publishers control what constitutes content completion (for example, end credits are shown). Once the arrangement has been completed, the channel makes a delete request to remove the content from the Continue Watching row.
Roku implemented this for third party apps to gather information on what is watched to bring users back to the third party app. Google "continue watching Roku developers". To get rid of it, I did the following and it worked:
4. I also removed the Roku channel icon, pressed * for Options on the ad to right of Home Screen and selected hide, reset advertising identifier under Settings-Privacy-Advertising and deselected Personalized Ads and Smart TV Experience, and went to each third party app home page to login and deselect sharing of information with third parties. Not sure all of this was necessary, but Roku obligates the the third parties to obtain a user's consent to show the Continue Watching on Roku.
Posting again. Blocked. Roku implemented this for third party apps to gather information on what is watched to bring users back to the third party app. Google "continue watching Roku developers". To get rid of it, I did the following and it worked:
Probably been said before, but why can't they have a delete option as well as the continue & watch from the start ?
Perhaps the developers dont actually watch that much TV and therefore are not akin to the everyday user experience ?
Depending on the App you are using there are so many different ways to remove programmes from the Continue Watching rail. I made myself a list to help me remember in the future (I still refer to it frequently).
@Deedee36 I couldn't agree more. The problems relating to deleting from the CW rail is currently my biggest complaint with this system and has been since I got Glass last July. Most of the other glitches I have resolved or have decided I can live with them.
We think alike @Deedee36 that is my other complaint, I have expressed my displeasure at both issues on the forum a number of times.. I am lead to believe (by this forum) that some of these issues might be subject of the next update. I certainly hope so.
Another big issue for me was my 3 pucks and glass tv not syncing the continue watching rail meaning I could notcontinue watching where I left off on any device it would go to the start of the show, although this past few days I have noticed this has kind of been working although sometimes it can take 10 minute or 30 minutes to kick in,I would expect it be almost instant if you switched one device off to continue exactly where you left of on another,I'm also hoping this will be working properly in the next big update
Netflix says users of its iOS app will soon be able to remove content from their "continue watching" list, which should come as good news to anyone who ever started watching something on the streaming service only to gave up on it in the opening minutes.
The idea behind the row is that it makes it easy to pick up where you left off. The problem is that Netflix's algorithm includes everything in its catalog that you've sampled, even if you decided you weren't interested in it pretty quickly.
Netflix's new "remove from row" feature, new to the Android version of the app, is designed to make it easier for people to remove those titles from their currently watching list, instead of having to wait for them to eventually get pushed down the line and out of sight.
The feature is accessed on Android via a three dot menu that appears below each title in the row. The pop-up menu also includes quick access to show information, as well as buttons to rate the content or download it.

I've had the same issue for a while now. The weird thing is I bought a Chomecast with Google TV for a friend this last Christmas and her hide button is still there. I'm seriously thinking about going back to Roku. So lame Google.
I just wanted to mention some other things. I've gone all in on Google. I have Google Fi. I have a Pixel 8 Pro and was considering getting a Google tablet and some smart home items but I just don't know anymore. I also have a Chromebook and use Google Docs, Keep and Sheets. The ecosytem is very important to me and the only other ecosytem that's compariable is Apple. I know this because I also have a new Macbook Pro and Ipad. So it wouldn't be much of a strech to go all in on Apple next time around.
Also, even if I do individually go into the app and remove a title from the continue watching list there, it often times remains on the continue watching list on the home screen even after removal. This is a problem with every app: Netflix, Hulu, Max, Apple TV+, YouTube, Paramount Plus.
Thanks for reaching out to the community and sharing your detailed feedback about the recent changes to the Chromecast "Continue Watching" list. I understand your frustration, especially regarding the missing "hide" option and the duplicate entries.
Report the issue: I appreciate you submitting feedback through the Google Home app. However, you can also report the specific issue with the "Continue Watching" list directly to our development team: link to the Chromecast support page
In order to remove continue watching on Netflix and ensure your history does not ever get to see the light of day. We will guide you through the method being able to do that. Netflix even lets you delete specific episodes although you can choose to delete the whole series.
Just start watching a programme. If you finish the episode, the next available episode will appear in your Continue Watching list either immediately, or as soon as it's available. If you stop part-way through an episode, it'll appear in your Continue Watching list so you can pick up where you left off when you're ready.
As long as you're signed in to the same BBC account, you can start watching a programme on one device, like a laptop, and continue watching on any other device you're signed in on, like a tablet or connected TV.
On the mobile/tablet app, the full Continue Watching list can be removed. To remove individual items, you can visit the website on your device browser and follow the steps above. Items removed from Continue Watching on the website will be reflected on the app. You may need to close and re-open, or refresh the app to see the changes.
It isn't currently possible to manage your Continue Watching list on the TV app. You'll need to access the BBC iPlayer website either on a computer, laptop, mobile or tablet to remove items from Continue Watching.
When you remove items from your Continue Watching list, or clear the Continue Watching history, it will update on your account across all devices that you're signed in on. You might need to close and re-open the BBC iPlayer app to see your updated Continue Watching list.
