Congratulations to all of the cyclists that completed the 25, 62, and 100 mile rides today in the 2011 Memorial Fall Century!
Also a HUGE thanks to the volunteers that made it all happen. Without them the Memorial Fall Century would not happen. We had over 50 riders that rode the various distances. All in all the ride was a success. We did have one mishap. Club member Bob Macdonald went down hard after touching wheels with another rider. He broke several ribs and punctured his lung. He was transported to AV Hospital and went into surgery this afternoon to repair the damage. He is awake and recovering. Knowing Bob he will be back riding soon!
About the Memorial Fall Century: The ride is held annually to remember Dan Stewart, Dave Cooley, and Bill Rorick. These riders were friends to many club members and we all miss riding with them.
BIG THANKS TO:
Elaine Macdonald for handling the food prep for the finishing riders.
Bicycle John's – Lancaster for supplying Clif Bars and gel for the rest stops.
Benz Sanitation for supplying porta-potties for the start and rest stops.
And another big thanks to all the volunteers for their tireless work in putting on the ride.
And a final mention to the rider that completed the century with a broken seat post bolt! He rode standing up for at least 20 miles!!! HARDCORE!
