HAVE YOUR SAY! DRAFT OUTDOOR ADVERTISING BY-LAW 2020
The City of Cape Town invites residents and interested and affected parties to comment on its draft Outdoor Advertising By-law 2020.
The By-law is intended to regulate outdoor advertising in the jurisdiction of the City of Cape Town in a manner that is sensitive to the environment and heritage qualities unique to each of Cape Town’s areas. It seeks to strike a balance between outdoor advertising
opportunities and economic development on the one hand, and the conservation of visual, historical, cultural appeal, and scenic beauty on the other hand, while also considering safety issues related to traffic and pedestrian movement.
The proposed By-law addresses the latest technological innovations such as digital trends, new media and alternative forms of outdoor advertising.
In terms of section 17 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, the public and interested parties or groups are given the opportunity to submit comments, recommendations or input to the municipality.
Comments, recommendations and input may be submitted between 1 June and 31 July 2021.
