Dear colleagues,

I hope you're all doing well. I'm currently looking for some postdoctoral fellows to join my group at KFUPM in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Our research focus is theoretical and computational condensed-matter physics. If you know anyone that you think may be interested, I'd highly appreciate if you could share the below poster with them.

Thank you,

Dr. Sabri Elatresh

Postdoctoral Researcher in Quantum Materials (Theory & Computation) — KFUPM

Location: King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia
Start date: January 1, 2026 (flexible)
Appointment: Up to 2 years; annual renewal contingent on performance
Research focus: Theoretical and computational condensed-matter physics

About the Project

We invite applications for a postdoctoral position with the Interdisciplinary Research Center for Advanced Quantum Computing at KFUPM. The project explores the structural, dynamical, transport, electrical, and magnetic properties of quantum materials.

Research Themes

·       Quantum computing, relevant materials

·       Materials under extreme conditions

·       Superconductivity and Dirac materials

·       Structure prediction and phase stability

Key Responsibilities

·       Design and execute computational studies for quantum-materials discovery and prediction.

·       Perform and analyze simulations of transport, magnetic, thermodynamic, and structural properties.

·       Publish in leading journals and present at international conferences.

·       Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in the group.

Qualifications

·       Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related field (by start date).

·       Strong background in theoretical/computational condensed-matter physics.

·       Experience with first-principles/DFT methods and related software (e.g., VASP, Abinit, Quantum ESPRESSO).

·       Skills in high-performance computing and scripting/programming (e.g., Python, Fortran, C/C++).

·       Familiarity with structure predictionphase stability, and materials informatics/high-throughput workflows.

·       A strong publication record and evidence of independent, creative research.

How to Apply

Combine the following into one PDF:

1.     Motivation letter (1–2 pages) describing your fit, relevant experience, and proposed research directions.

2.     CV (with contact information).

3.     Publication list (highlight up to three key papers and your contribution).

4.     Names and contact details of two referees.

Email the PDF to Dr. Sabri Elatresh at "sabri.e...@kfupm.edu.sa"  with the subject line:
