Dear Colleagues,
Apologies for multiple postings.
The SNAP beamline is accepting proposals for the upcoming 2026-A call for proposals at ORNL’s neutron sources. The deadline for submission is October 1st , 2025 at Noon (12pm) EST, with approved proposals scheduled from March - June 2026.
SNAP is the dedicated extreme conditions diffractometer at the SNS. The instrument can measure powder and single-crystal samples under a wide variety of pressure and temperature conditions. An overview of our instrument capabilities can be found on our website here. We strongly advise that you contact the beamline staff prior to submission, to discuss the details of your experiment. If you are unsure of whether the conditions you require are accessible, please feel free to informally reach out to a member of the SNAP team.
Mail-in express proposals: SNAP runs a mail-in program for powder measurements at room temperature using the Paris-Edinburgh press. Mail-in proposals can be submitted anytime, and should be limited in scope, with an emphasis on delivering high-impact results in a timely manner, or on conducting preliminary measurements to support future proposals. Full details can be found here.
For information on the available proposal types and on how to submit your proposal, please visit http://neutrons.ornl.gov/users/.
Best wishes,
The SNAP Team
