Please find the Family Center’s September 2015 Calendar attached

 

New from the Family Center:

*All programs offered through the Family Center are free and open to anyone who wishes to attend

“Guiding Good Choices” for parents, grandparents and caregivers

Wednesday’s from 11am-1:30pm, September 30th – November 4th

Join us for conversations about:

-How children learn

-Developmental stages

-Changing behavior and setting rules

*Includes light lunch and childcare for children ages 3-6

 

“Guitar Classes”

Wednesday Evening’s starting September 30th

Guitar Basics from 6:00pm-6:30pm

Beginner Guitar from 6:40pm-7:10pm

Advanced Guitar from 7:20pm-8:30pm

*Classes are mixed ages based on skill level, ages 2nd grade and up

*Please arrive at 6pm on Wednesday September 30th so the instructor can assess your skill level and assign you to a class

*Spaces is limited due to the number of guitars we have available, if you have your own guitar please bring it

 

“Child Birth Class”

Monday evenings from 7pm-9pm, October 12th – December 7th

Join us for this 8 week series to learn about and discuss:

-          Anatomy and physiology

-          Normal pregnancy and labor

-          Pain management

-          Interventions

-          Preparing to bring your baby home

-          Breast feeding and post partum depression

-          Creating a birth plan

*this is a class for couples to attend together

*Instructor, Christi Sonheim, is a member of the International Childbirth Education Association

 

“STUDIO: After School Program for Middle and High School Students”

Starting September 29th

                High School program - Tuesdays from 4:00pm-6:00pm

                Middle School program – Wednesday from 3:30pm-5:30pm

                Drop in homework help and tinkering – Thursday from 3:30-6:00

*Students are expected to participate for the length of the school year and will receive a stipend ($$$) for their participating

NEW Drop in:

 

“Exploring Language and Culture through Story”

Monday’s from 10:30am-11:00am

Each week a guest from a differ country will come in to share about their experience as a child, practice simple words, sing a song and then read a story about their culture

*this class is followed by “Art and Block”, drop in art activities and play for children ages 0-5

 

“Music and Movement Class for Toddlers”

Wednesday’s from 10:30am-11:00am

Introduce your child to music and rhythm with instructor, Amy Au

*designed for children ages 2-5

*this class is followed by “Play and Learn” from 11-12:30, drop in play for 0-5 year olds

 

Parent Peer Group: “School Readiness Conversations”

Friday’s 11am-12:30pm starting September 18th

“Support your child in their learning, discuss questions and ideas for talking with school staff, meet employment and college pathways experts”

Join us for refreshments, conversation, and FREE CHILDREN’S BOOKS

 

“ESL Classes”

Monday’s from 1pm-2:30pm starting September 21st

Small groups, excellent teachers, and no testing
