So is anyone seriously interested in serving on the steering committee for the cooperatively owned brewpub?  If you don't know what I'm talking about let me know and I'll forward you an information sheet.  Basically the steering committee will function as a board of directors prior to the formation of the co-op, and most likely as the initial board after formation, which is tentatively later this year.  The steering committee will be tasked with determining the basic governing structure of the co-op and getting all the paperwork in place to form the co-op.  A commitment of 10-15 hours per month is anticipated.  No compensation is planned, but there will be great perk beer benefits (homebrew at this stage, and I'll probably buy you a pint here and there.

I'll post this question on Facebook as well, answer me in either venue.

Cheers,

Colin Cummings

I am interested but I can't commit without knowing the liabilities and legalities of this concept. I would also have to get "permission" from Uncle Sam before I became officially involved. I hate to be wishy-washy because I understand the frustration it causes but that's my world. I can explain further in person if need be.

For Dennis in particular but also for everyone in general,

The co-op will be a cooperative association under TX statute much like any nonprofit or agricultural co-op.  Board members are not personally liable for co-op debts or liabilities.  This is a quick answer, but rest assured there is no personal risk involved.  In fact the steering committee is an unofficial group with zero legal requirements, but otherwise is very important for the ultimate formation of the co-op as a legal entity.

For those who have indicated interest, I ask that you fill out the (hopefully)
attached form.  You can either bring a copy to the July 11 meeting, email me a copy, or let me know where I can pick it up.

Cheers,

Just a reminder to fill out an application form if you'd like to serve on the steering committee.  I can pick up applications, you can bring them to me or Grant, or bring them to the July 11th meeting.
