Positive Sexuality & Youth: March 19 & 20, 10am-4pm (Wed.) & 10am-4pm (Thurs.)

Latinas/os, Health & Youth Development
This training introduces aspects of Latin
American and Latina/o cultures that promote
resilience, health, and can empower Latina/o
youth to thrive in adulthood. This training is
specifically designed for adults who work with
Latina/o youth and are seeking to challenge
traditional deficit-based approaches by
practicing culturally appropriate youth
development. The Health & Youth Development
training is a pre-requisite for Latinas/os,
Health & Youth Development. (6 hours over one day)

Health & Youth Development
This training introduces HIFY’s perspective on
youth and health. We explore youth development
theory, the values underlying our work with
youth, and how to apply an asset-based approach
to youth health issues. Includes strategies for
applying youth development in health care
settings and youth agencies, as well as a chance
to hear and share best practices. (6 hours over one day)

Positive Sexuality & Youth
“Sex is dirty and nastysave it for the one you
love.” Unfortunately, this is the message youth
often receive. This training challenges this
message by examining the concept of positive
sexuality and exploring how it can strengthen our
work with youth. We share tools for supporting
youth as they make sexual decisions and develop
healthy intimate relationships. (12 hours over 2 days)
