it's prettier (I can include the flyers/images in them). Drop me a
line if you have any events coming up that you'd like advertised.
Thanks so much!

HIFY News:
March has been busy!
We've finished our digital storytelling series' with both Center for
Young Women's Development and with the Mission Independent Living
Skills Program (tune into our YouTube page to see the new additions
next week!). We also completed an entire Go Healthy series with Oasis
for Girls.
We tabled at the ACLU Youth Rights Conference and also presented a
workshop on youth rights to comprehensive sex education (Check out
SB71 if you don't already know!
http://gsanetwork.org/resources/pdf/SB71FactSheet2.pdf
).
And Cassie and I attended the social action bootcamp (hosted by
DoSomething.org). There were a lot of great resources for organizing
and starting your own projects. If you have creative ideas for
projects you want to do, check out their website and apply for one of
their grants!
We're still looking for bilingual health educators to apply to work at
HIFY and youth interested in attending our upcoming workshop series
at Dimensions Clinic in SF. Check out the Google Group's files to find
the job description and the Series information.
The first workshop at Dimensions will be tomorrow afternoon! So spread
the word quick!

Rock Paper Scissors Collective:
Seeking youth art
A self-portrait can be more than a portrayal of what you look like: it
can be a group of sounds that takes the listeners through your
thoughts for a day; a sculpture that melds all your favorite things in
your room together; or it can be an image of your face-outlining the
ups and downs you have stored in your facial muscles.
RPSC is asking for young artists (age 13 to 20) to reflect deeply on
their lives through any form of art medium they desire and submit an
autobiographical piece of art for our 4th Annual Youth Art Exhibition,
opening in May 2009. This is your chance to tell Oakland your story
using any form of creativity you choose: visual, craft-based,
sculpture, airbrushing, fashion, multi-media, music, and/or
performance. Have a skill to share? Use it to tell your story!
Pieces will be juried by a group of RPSC youth interns and members.
All submissions are due by April 10th. Artists will be notified by
April 13th. Please submit JPG photos of pieces and send to:
rpscsubmissi...@gmail.com. Arrangements can be made if a digital image
is not possible. If the piece is performance or audio, please drop off
DVDs or CDs at RPSC during store hours. Chosen artists will have the
option of selling their piece. The chosen pieces will remain on
display through May 22nd.
Teachers and classes encouraged to submit!
RPSC is also looking for young artists who have a skill to share to
teach classes at RPSC during May. Please contact,
commun...@rpscollective.com if interested.
