HIFY Updates:

We've had a non-stop month of excitement here at HIFY. We've had a
wonderful response to our search for a Youth Advisory Board so thank
you all for spreading the word. The Positive Sexuality Training was a
huge success (according to trainers and participants alike). And we've
welcomed 2 new staff to the office.

Fatima Duran returns to HIFY as Bi-lingual health educator. Fatima was
previously a HIFY peer and we are excited that she's come back to us.

We've also hired Rey Estevez, who comes to us after years of youth
work in some of our community agencies such as 7 Teepees and Newcomer
High School. Rey will also be doing bi-lingual health education.

Keep your eyes peeled for our new trainers and make sure to give them
a warm welcome!

In the past month we’ve worked with these groups:
New America Media- Go Healthy Series
SFUSD Wellness Centers – Training of Trainers and Positive Sexuality
CYWD- Digital Storytelling Series
JJC- Negotiation and Consent, Sexual Harm Reduction
International Studies Academy- Harm Reduction
McCullum Youth Court- Developing Success Plans for "At Risk" youth
Wallenberg HS- Anti-Homophobia

We've also been doing a lot of cool stuff with ongoing groups. Check
out the update about Q-lab to see how you can get involved, and watch
a video on how to make Spooky Safer Sex kits in the section about The
Hangout (And think of creative ways to use future holidays to do
outreach!)

Have a great month!

Tina

Q-Lab: Reimagined

What started out as a Digital Storytelling series, turned into a
volunteer opportunity, and is now a community dialogue taking the
shape of a website, still needs YOU to get involved!

Q-Lab or "Queer Life and Beyond" is a media project to answer the
question "How do you survive as a young queer person?"

Sexuality intersects the rest of the health issues we face on a daily
basis. Add to that the complexity of youth, gender, race, class, and
physical ability and there's a lot to talk about.

You can be part of the conversation. Join the website by visiting
www.queerlifeandbeyond.ning.com

Watch videos, write and read blog posts, and more!

You can also come by on Thursdays from 2-5pm to be a part of the
writing and filming of future Q-Lab webisodes!

contact ma...@hify.org if you have any questions!

######
Saturday Hang OUT @ Dimensions

Dimensions clinic has partnered with HIFY to provide a space for queer
youth to hang out on Saturday afternoons. Stop by after getting tested
(Dimensions is an awesome clinic!) or just come to hang out.

Hang OUTs happen Saturdays Noon-3:00pm

This past month, we've watched more movies, eaten more pizza, and had
a special "Halloween Harm Reduction" Hangout that led to the
production of "Spooky safer sex kits." Watch the video to see how you
too can make these cute goody bags. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i75lN-DFY8s
