3. St. John's is currently recruiting 10-15 current juniors that
either live or attend school in the Mission for its newest program
College Connect: Mission District.

College Connect: Mission District provides comprehensive,
family-based college counseling support to a select junior cohort (and their
families) beginning in February. We will help students select and
gain admission to the best universities that meet their personal
needs, while supporting parents to not only understand the details of
college financing, but to become comfortable "letting go" of their
children as they pursue higher education. College Connect staff will
support participants through college graduation.

This is not an everyday program and selected participants can
continue to participate in their various after-school pursuits.

Applications are due on January 25th. Program launches on February 20th.

For further questions, please contact Maddy Russell-Shapiro at St.
John's, (415) 864-5205 x17.

5. Since 1998, GirlSource has been providing meaningful employment
and leadership opportunities for low-income, high school age girls in
San Francisco. Our paid job program offers technology training,
supplemented by individual guidance to help girls finish high school,
go on to college, and launch their careers. We hire low-income young
women between the ages of 14 and 18 with a focus on young women of color.

The Technology and Leadership Program uses health and well-being
issues as a vehicle for technology education. This intensive, 2
day/week, 16-week program, employs 12-24 young women per cycle to
learn a variety of technology skills. This Spring, 24 young women
will be hired to work in two groups. They will re-launch our web
magazine in a blog format and will produce profile videos for the
honorees of our annual WAVE Awards Luncheon.

The Technology Educator should be a highly self-motivated individual
and dynamic speaker. The ideal candidate should be able to work will
little supervision and should enjoy working with young, urban, women
of color. Under the direct supervision of the Program Director, this
position is primarily responsible for facilitating technology
curriculum. Candidate must be capable of troubleshooting computer
issues and should be proficient in required software applications
listed below in order to effectively teach tech skills and answer
questions during program.
