same building) that will be taking place at the end of this month.
In May, HIFY worked with the following groups providing both workshops
and trainings:

harm?
• Riley Center: Digital Storytelling Series
• Huckleberry Wellness Academy: Digital Storytelling Series

Sheena Castrejon, one of our Biligual Health Educators, just gave
birth to a beautiful baby girl. We’re all sending them love and
congratulations!
The Hangout, a weekly drop-in group at Dimensions, held it’s final
hangout May 22nd. While we’re sad that we will no longer be there on
Saturdays, we look forward to future collaborations with Dimensions
and the larger LGBTQIQ community!
Thanks so much for subscribing to the HIFY monthly e mail. We
appreciate you keeping in touch, and want to make sure you know what’s
going on with health and youth in your community! If you have any
announcements, events, or resources you would like us to include in
next month’s e mail, let us know! And be sure to stay tuned to our
Myspace, Facebook, and YouTube pages!! Have a great June everyone.

Gender Queer Digital Storytelling
Gender Queer voices are often silent, or overshadowed by the greater
volume of the LGBTQIQ communities- and it’s time we spoke up. Gender
Queer is hard to define, because often it’s essence is defined by what
you aren’t.
If you aren’t just a boy, or you aren’t just a girl…
If you don’t prescribe to the gender binary…
If you aren’t happy passing for anything, because that simplicity
fails to recognize your complexity. . .
If you aren’t one for identity politics, but are queering identity all
together. . . .
You may be Gender Queer- But really, you know who you are, and you
know how to describe it best.
Youth ages 14-24 Learn Media making skills in order to create your own
portal for speaking your mind and changing the world. Talk with other
folks about what it means to you to be Gender Queer.

Sausalito.
If you are a youth, please apply! If you are an adult, then please
pass this message on to the youth you work with.
Every summer GSA Network offers GSA Activist Camp! GSA Activist Camps
are youth-planned, youth-led summer training academies and serve
middle and high school students in Northern California, Southern
California, and the Central Valley.
GSA Activist Camps are 3 days long and feature intensive community
building, skill-building, political education and leadership training
for current and potential GSA members. There is a sliding scale fee
of $0-$100 so if a youth can't afford anything that's ok! :) Youth
should definitely still apply.
Activist Camp is for students who will be enrolled in middle school
and high school for the 2010-2011 school year and youth should already
be involved with a GSA or want to be involved in their GSA for the
upcoming school year. If you are a graduating senior, think about
what younger member of your GSA could go.
The deadline to apply is Friday, July 2nd at 5pm. Youth will be
contacted the week of July 5th - 9th about the status of their
application.
Students of color, transgender and gender non-conforming youth, and
low income youth are especially encouraged to apply!
