VABSIII.exe seems to run well under linux with Wine-1.0.1 (legal and free Windows virtualization tool sized at 15Mb).   I have only tested it with debian5 and Ubuntu9. I could benchmark a case if you like.

Google funded some of the development of Wine to run the windows version of Picassa on Linux.  It also works for several games and is in the repositories of all major Linux distributions (available for download from a trusted source).   This could be an easy way for you to support Linux users without having to build Linux binaries.
