Maximum stiffness optimization of laminated composite beams

Dear all

The last months I and Assoc. Prof. Mathias Stolpe have been working on
devising a methodology for the identification of optimal fiber
orientations and laminate stacking sequence in the design of laminated
composite beams. The problem is solved in a finite element context and
using VABS for the cross section analysis. I have now produced a paper
which summarizes the work done. This paper has been submmited and
accepted for presentation at the World Congress on Structural and
Multidisciplinary Optimization.

I thought some of you could be interested in this work therefore I
have uploaded the paper in the files section for you to download. I
would be glad to answer any questions or address any suggestions that
someone might have.
