PLACEMENT DRIVE: ABSENCE FROM FINAL ROUND OF SELECTION PROCESS
Before a placement drive is conducted, T & P issues a notice indicating all possible details such as designation, job profile, package, job locations etc. Generally the drive starts with presentation by the company followed by question answer session to clear the queries of students. Thereafter the short-listing processes start.
It is observed that some of the students have been leaving the placement drive at in-between stages of short listing. The most difficult problem faced by companies during the drives is when a student who has reached up to “final round of selection” leaves the drive. This is because of the fact that in the event of number of students having reached the final round, the companies start feeling that so many candidates have almost met their expectation and most of those would clear the “final round” and would be ‘selected’. At such stage, company starts feeling that its task of recruiting so many number of fresher’s is likely to be achieved.
Hence, absence of student at the “final round” not only results in non-optimal materialization of efforts put in by company as well as by T & P, but also affects image of institute. Such state also results in reluctance of the company to visit us for placement in future.
Reason for absence of such good students who had not attended the final rounds of selection is best known to the students him/ herself. However it is opined that most probably these good students have either already got placed through their own merit or have plans such as higher education/own business etc (if it is so, it is very good).
As of now, there are total of 10 such students. During quarries with these students on their absence from final rounds, reasons given by 6 of them were found to be ‘unsatisfactory’, whereas reasons given by rest 4 of them were found ‘satisfactory’.
Therefore with aim to further enhance the chances of other students who have been missing the selection by small margins, it has been decided under mentioned 6 students be considered as ‘placed’ and will not be permitted to appear in future drives by T & P, and other 4 are warned to be more careful in future.
