Ninerwill help you get the IELTS score you need but they do not actually help you use the English language with any more efficiency. What is the use of passing an exam and not completely knowing how to use the language?

I prefer the approach by American English Language in Makati. They teach English language along with IELTS testing concepts so you actually improve the way you use the language instead of just learning tricks to pass the exam.

Rachell Allen reviews is also good for this, the review instructors are very diverse there and will teach Nurses for Academic and skilled workers for general in the same class. They do this because they keep very small class sizes to maintain a high level of one-on-one contact which is essential for language education.

My friends in British Council and IDP Australia agree with this assessment of Niner's methods as well. Niner also uses misleading advertising claims that they are ranked as the top agent by BC and IDP.

Niners is a good review center but certainly not the best. I reviewed with Careerworx in Ortigas and I got good scores as well (I have a 9, with no score lower than 7). What I liked about my review at Careerworx is that the class was really small. In our batch there were only 5 of us, plus the ones that sit-in.

why do i feel that niners.09 is using every opportunity inthe web to advertise?i dont kknow if ill believe the other post that's its true or they themselves(niners) posting it.hmmmmmm.Is it really true? but honestly which review center can u guys recommend, how much would it cost?and where it is located thanks so much :)

hello! may i recommend perfect 9 learning center? their main branch is in sampaloc, manila. my agency is in partnership with them because of the center's customized teaching. the standard program is also efficient such that a candidate may already take the test only after 30 hours of lectures and workshop. the owner also has masters in teaching of the english language and handles the students herself in writing and speaking.

For IELTS, I don't think you will need the best review center. Review centers can't help you because IELTS tests your english skill, a skill that you can't improve overnight. You just need a review center to give you an idea of how IELTS exam works. Go back to basic grammar. I took IELTS three times before I can actually get the band score of 7. I even hired an English tutor and my tutor always told me go back to the basic grammar. Another important thing is PRACTICE A LOT!!!

This summary overview reports on a systematic review of the IELTS Writing criteria and band descriptors conducted in response to ongoing monitoring of test performance, including anecdotal feedback from IELTS Writing examiners over several years. The cross-partner project was conducted between March 2019 and May 2023 and entailed multiple phases.

Phase 1 investigated quantitative and qualitative data collected via a survey questionnaire and focus groups from at least 400 IELTS Writing examiners worldwide. Data analyses from Phase 1 suggested a need to remove perceived ambiguities in some scales and band descriptors through adjustment of the existing wording.

Building on the Phase 1 findings, Phase 2 involved a team of IELTS senior examiners and researchers making targeted adjustments to the existing IELTS scales and band descriptors to prepare a draft revised version for field trialling.

The Phase 3 field trial collected quantitative scoring data from 103 examiners marking 882 responses using the adjusted band descriptors, accompanied by questionnaire and focus group feedback. Score data analyses, using Linear Mixed Effects (LME) and Multi-Faceted Rasch Measurement (MFRM) models, indicated that the adjusted scales demonstrated appropriate technical performance qualities, while examiner feedback showed that raters perceived the adjustments as a positive improvement.

Although work in Phases 1, 2 and 3 had been completed by February 2020, the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020 made the planned implementation of the adjusted scales and band descriptors for IELTS Writing difficult at that time. Instead, the IELTS partners prioritised innovations in the existing test system which could respond to and keep pace with rapidly changing market requirements due to the pandemic (e.g., IELTS Indicator).

Phase 4 of the review project was initiated in January 2022 in preparation for operational implementation of the adjusted scales and band descriptors. Between May and July 2022, a cross-partner team of subject matter experts made further refinements to the descriptor wording and developed revised examiner training materials. The appropriate functioning of the revised scales was confirmed in a study that examined score data from 1,000 IELTS Writing responses marked twice by 100 examiners, once using the existing descriptors and then using the adjusted descriptors. Feedback from examiners was also gathered for analysis. The outcomes of the Phase 4 study showed no cause for concern and the adjusted band descriptors were introduced operationally from May 2023.

The speaking training took place over a weekend, and the writing another. To be honest, there was a lot of material to cover and they were long'ish days (for ESL teachers at least). At the end of the weekend, there was an assessment task to determine if we qualified. Generally speaking, if you have the above qualifications that come from several years of teaching speaking and writing, then you should be able to make sense of the rubrics and pass. For writing examining, you really need to understand the components of a good essay (e.g. topic development, transitions, organization). If you have this experience, you should be able to pass and gradually become more and more standard in your grading.

Note that even if you fail one type of examiner certification (e.g. writing), that doesn't disqualify you from being an examiner for the other skill (e.g. speaking) or attempting the certification again at a later date.

Next, if you pass the certification, your next interview is a real high-stakes examining situation with a real candidate. At this point you may have only practiced the speaking interview process once! (And there's a lot going on in terms of language assessment and timing in speaking.) Needless to say, you're forced to make a quick (and daunting) leap into your first examiner experience. For some, the greatest challenge may be trying not to appear as nervous as the candidate.

You may make a few mistakes on your first day (e.g. particularly with timing each section), but you will soon get the hang of it. Because of the fixed/scripted nature of what you can say as a speaking examiner (especially in parts I and II), there's not that much room for verbal error thankfully. This may be a drawback for examiners who prefer to freely converse with their candidate, but for me (someone who likes structure), it was comforting.

Once you become comfortable with the speaking examining (the script will become ingrained in your brain), then it can actually be a lot of fun. You get to listen to candidates speak (for roughly 14 minutes) and enjoy their stories. You'll often laugh and meet intelligent people who have great ideas. It's definitely not the worst way to spend a weekend day, and the best part about it is that unlike teaching English, there is no prep and it pays well.

For me, writing was a bit draining (I'm not a quick reader) but it is also a good way to make money, especially if you are fast. While I didn't find any particular enjoyment in writing, again, the pay is good and you don't need to prep or think about it after you're done.

Judging by your punctuation/capitalization, it may be difficult for you to become a writing examiner. This link should provide you some information, however: -and-research/examiner-recruitment-and-training

1) If I am hired by a centre, can I also work for other centres, as the bookings with my centre are rather spasmodic? I paid for my own training, which was provided by the centre for which I am working.

2) Although I am told that I say have 10 bookings, when I arrive at the centre to examine they sometimes say some of the candidates have cancelled in which case I am only allowed to claim for the numbers examined. Is this true of all centres? Sometimes it makes it very unworthwhile, being paid for so few candidates, and I wondered whether all centres adhere to these payment policies.

Hello. Unfortuntunately I do not know anyone looking for private students. It seems like your English is structurally sound. There are two word-choice/preposition issues in your writing (proper > suitable / stressed out for > stressed out about). Good luck!

Hello. Yes, I also understand that a score of 9 is needed to examine. There were several non-native English speakers examining at the centre I worked at. I think each centre has its own qualifications that they can set. For example, mine required examiners to have a masters degree. I would look for job postings from IELTS centres in your area and try applying.

Hello there! Your post was exactly what I was looking for, much appreciated!

I am interested in becoming a writing examiner. (I am not a fast reader, either but love the challenge :) Most of the centres I contacted are looking for a speaking examiner, though. Do they-speaking & writing examiner positions- come as a package or do I get to choose?

Plus, I am a non-native English speaker. I wonder if I need to score band 9 overall.

Cheers!

Hello. I have not taught IELTS since 2016. With that said, examiners who had a masters degree in an English program (e.g. me) were not required to take the IELTS test, thankfully. There is some information here about Canada: -ielts/become-ielts-examiner/

You need to attend first the major lectures in speaking and writing before booking an appointment with your coach. The coaching forms reset at 9PM every day. You can book from 9PM the previous day up to the time of your coaching as long as there are available slots. The mechanics for coaching are posted at www.nineronlinereview.com/pages/online-coaching.
