Welcome
to this space to contribute your thoughts, stories and photos about being an opposite sex twin.
And welcome to your dialogue with others about what they post of this discussion space.

This has never been done before.  There is some helpful research about being an opposite sex twin but there is no forum or network for
opposite sex twins to share their experiences.

Hi Olivia
I read your article in the Guardian last month and am very interested in your research. I have often searched for info on opposite sex twins on the intertnet and found very little. I have a twin brother (1 hour younger - always important to say!) and we get on well right now but I think issues of identity & codependancy have affected our lives. we are 50, about to be 51 and I'm thinking of buying your book for his birthday present! I'm looking forward to seeing what others may discuss here so thanks for setting up the forum.

Hello Hilary
It is great to hear from you and about you as an opposite sex twin.  I do hope you will come and join us at our next gathering on January 26th. You will find the details in another section here. I have written an article about our last meeting that I shall post up here once Tamba ( Twin and multiple birth association) has published it.

Thanks, I'll be interested to read that. I've now brought your book and hopefully will have a chance to have a good read soon (before I give it to my brother!)

Just to let you know that I too am an 0/S twin being just 2 minutes younger than my brother...yes it does seem to matter in the family stories.  I too was delighted to hear of Olivia's work and agree about issues of identity and codependency. I've read Olivia's book which has given me lots of insights and I feel more confident that my different take on the world is understandable and not a sign of being a little odd! I am 59 and finding that despite ups and downs in my relationship with my brother,  I am wanting to face some of the complex factors in the relationship more now....almost as a 'must do'. As I've told Olivia, I also have a longstanding partner who is a fraternal twin, whose twin brother  has the same name as my brother.  Yes further complexity!
I'm hoping to come along to Olivia's event in January.  Maybe see you there.

Hi Jean (& Olivia) - that's interesting to hear a little about you - I've made a start on the book and already I've found some interesting connections although some of it seems quite difficult! (haven't given it to my brother - suddenly feel a bit shy about it!) Funnily enough I married a man who is only 3 days younger than me and had a brother only a year older than him and they were often mistook for twins!! Not sure that I'll be able to go to the convention - bit of a way for me. I'd like to know a little more about the last one too. But I'd still like to explore further about being an o/s twin.
