New on The Hickory Hound: Two Connected Pieces

This evening’s work closes one chapter and opens another.

Hickory 101: Lesson 9 — Building the Map Forward completes the Hickory 101 series by shifting from awareness to orientation. It explains why clarity matters under pressure, how capacity, risk, and choice actually interact, and why communities get into trouble when they confuse activity with direction. This piece is not about solutions—it is about learning how to stay grounded when decisions begin to compound.

That sets the stage for what comes next.

Hickory 102: #1 — The Early Reboot, Revisited looks back at the March reboot of The Hickory Hound itself and what has been learned since. With hindsight, it revisits early assumptions, early signals, and early optimism, and explains how surface stability gave way to deeper structural recognition. This is not a critique of the city. It is an accounting of how the work evolved once the patterns stopped moving.

Read together, these two pieces mark a transition:

  • from onboarding to judgment

  • from observation to reckoning

  • from learning how to see to understanding what that vision uncovered

They are meant to be read in order.
