Dia dhaoibh -
I've just had a little chat with my good friend and co-founder of
Hibernia Centre many years ago, Brian Owens.
It was a long distance chat all the way from Tasmania; he never fails
to give me a Gaelic greeting on the eve of 1st Feb. reminding me that
tomorrow is St.Bridgid's Day.
Actually, he knows well that I don't need reminding and so he moves on
to play me a lovely bright sparkly rendition of Martin Wynne's 2nd on
the feadóg tin whistle, -no better man.
I can't think of a more useful use of the multi-channel terabit
satellite link Australia-to-UK than this delightful musical and
spiritual uplift, surely that's what the science was meant for.
Brian knows I don't need that reminder, because 1st Feb is, from
ancient times...... The First day Of Spring in IRL ...
-and having suffered cabin-fever and a glancing blow from the sad
syndrome, I look forward to this day every year with verve.
Of course 'tis the First Day Of Spring.......haven't you noticed that nice
little 'stretch' of the days at 5 pm and have you not spotted the
daffs popping up all over the place....?
So CELEBRATE, Spring is here, take someone out for a meal this
weekend, be of good cheer and congratulate you and yours for
surviving another cold wet and dark winter ....!
Beir Bua and Happy Saint Brigid's Day-
and just over the horizon... The Six Nations....The Cheltenham Festival...
bring it on.....
