Hi,
How to write generator element in hbm file when the primary key in
the database table of type string?
Can anybody please give the sample code, as I am fairly new in using
hibernate f/w.?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but your question doesn't sound like it's related to Hibernate Shards. I'd recommend posting your question to a general Hibernate users forum.
