Hello all,
I am reaching out to all of you with tonight's district committee meeting itinerary. For those who may not be familiar, the purpose of a scouting district committee meeting is to gather representatives of our numerous committees and discuss upcoming plans for the district. While everybody is welcome to join committee meetings, we do encourage folks in attendance to be involved in at least one committee. The zoom link for tonight's committee meeting is below, and we will be meeting in person at Our Lady of Sorrows in Vestal at 7:00 PM for those who would like to join.

I also think this is a good time to address district meetings at large because I am not sure how familiar people are with them. Hiawatha District has four district meetings per month. Two key 3 meetings, one committee meeting, and one roundtable. Each meeting has a distinct goal, and each one is designed to build off the last one. Here are brief descriptions for all of them:

Key 3 - Made up of the District Chair, Committee Chair and District Executive - Meets twice a month to discuss the direction and goals of the district.

Committee Meeting - Made up of district committees for activities and district operations. For instance, many districts will have a camping committee, finance committee, training committee, membership committee and so on. The committee meeting is where the Key 3 communicates the goals of the district to the committees so that individual committees can begin planning events and maintain general district upkeep.

Roundtable - Roundtable can be attended by anybody, and we strongly encourage every unit to have some sort of representation at these meetings. This meeting is where all members of the district deliver event dates, share effective program ideas, develop relationships, and address any individual problems that units may have.

Consider that these also work backwards. If somebody brings up a training issue at roundtable, it will be communicated to the training committee, then to the Key 3 so that a plan can be generated to solve the problem.

If you cannot attend this month's committee meeting, please stay tuned as next month will feature a new monthly schedule. We will be keeping Thursdays as our main meeting days, but we plan to have the weeks change. If you are interested in knowing more about this change, please see the itinerary attached.

Thank you!
