I have several playlists containing several hundred songs.  When I want to switch to one of them, I clear the queue of the existing and then add the new one but I only get a few songs at a time.  How can I add a complete playlist to an empty queue?

Hi,

The app should already be adding the entire playlist to the queue (unless there's a bug I don't know about), though at first you'll see a small number of tracks and the last entry should be something like '500 more songs from <playlist name>". More tracks will then become visible as playback proceeds.

The reason the queue works like this is to allow large numbers of tracks to be added to the queue quickly and without the possibility about using up all the RAM on memory constrained devices such as a phones. It also allows for efficient shuffling of large libraries of music located on UPnP/DLNA media servers.

You can tap on the title of the last item in the queue (ie. the one that says '500 more songs from ....' to quicken the process of populating the queue with the individual tracks).

If you are not seeing the behaviour I have described above please let me know (preferably via the 'Send Feedback' screen in the app - and some screenshots would also help).

Regards,
Brett

Dear Hi-Fi CAST Developer,

May I ask to check the shuffle function when library is from DNLA server?

I notice the following:

1)      Hi-Fi CAST sees “whole library” and adds all tracks to queue whether by “play” or “shuffle & play”.  This is at “whole library” level

2)      Containers such as artist, genre, etc. are provided by the DNLA server.

3)      When selecting one of the containers such as genre, “play” seems to work properly:

          a.       adds 1st 25 tracks to queue.

          b.       At bottom of queue, it offers “More song(s) from [selected container]”

          c.       Selecting this entry seems to add another 50 tracks to queue, with last entry repeating to offer additional tracks.  Each time adding 50, and so on.

4)      But “shuffle & play”:

         a.       Will consistently add 8 tracks.

         b.       I scroll to the bottom of queue and see last entry as “More shuffled song(s) from [selected container]”.

         c.       Selecting this last entry loads additional tracks to the queue for a total of 30.

         d.       Scrolling again to the bottom of the queue, I only see the last track (30th).  No option for “More shuffled songs…”

         e.       If I play all tracks, after the 30th, it will wrap to the first.  Does not load any additional.

5)      Seems to work properly if I play from local (on my phone) library, the “shuffle & play” will:

         a.       Add 5 tracks to the queue.

         b.       Last entry says “# more shuffled song(s) from [selected container]”  where # is the total number of tracks available.

6)      I assume the difference in behavior is with local library: Hi-Fi Cast creates the containers; while with the DLNA server: the server provides the containers and contents?

BTW:  not sure if important; but my DLNA server is searchable.  Checked with HI-FI CAST.

Thank you in advance for your support,

Joe
