Google can't find anything playing right now

I really like this player to listen my mp3 library while running. Until recently I could use the Google assistant to ask "Hey Google, what song is this?" The assistant would answer with the artist and song title. But for the past month or so it consistently answers "I can't find anything playing right now", and then the player goes right back to playing the song. Did something change? I'm on Android 13 on a Pixel 6a.
