Hello. Following several good comments about Hi-Fi Cast, I am discovering it and yes I am already tempted to make it my favorite app on Android but I have found two “problems” I would like to submit.
My music library is composed of mp3 files with id3v2.3 tags.
1) I was surprised to see (for example in “Song details”) that “Album artist” and “Artist (of the tack)” are retrieved from the same (TPE1) tag.
Many programs / applications like Mp3tag, Foobar2000, Gonemad Music Player, Windows (file Properties > Details) use the TPE2 tag for “Album artist” and TPE1 tag for “Contributing artist(s) of the track”.
I recognize that https://id3.org/id3v2.3.0 never defines an “album artist”. It defines TPE1 as “Lead artist(s)/Lead performer(s)/Soloist(s)/Performing group” used for the main artist(s) and TPE2 as “'Band/Orchestra/Accompaniment” used for additional information about the performers in the recording.
But apparently many mp3 libraries have been set up with TPE2 as the “album artist” (main artist(s) mentioned for exemple on the cover) and TPE1 as the “artist(s)” contributing / featuring in that particular track.
If Hi-Fi Cast cannot adopt straight this convention, maybe an option could be added to decide which tag should be used for “Album artist” and which one for “Contributing artist(s)”.
2) Apparently another convention (less frequent) is followed by several music players (for example Foobar2000, GMMP) known as “multiple artists” (“multiple genres” also exists).
In the TPE1 tag, if artist names are separated by a “;” (could be also “//”), each artist name will be isolated and placed in the artist list. For example retrieving “Artist1; Artist2” in TPE1 will put Artist1 and Artist2 in the artist list. Selecting Artist1 will list that album / track in his list of albums /tracks. Same for Artist2.
I am using heavily this convention (and certainly many others). I would be very pleased if it could be implemented in Wi-fi Cast.
Thanks for all the good work already done.
Jean
