Hi, after upgrading to Android 14 I get the message in the connection analyzer "Failed. Cannot access media file" followed by the IP of my Pixel 6a with Port 42345. Setup is source=my phone, media player = SIRD 14 over WLAN. Already checked Firewall etc, nothing noticable. First checkpoint "check URL" came back ok. I run this thing for years now. Any ideas ?  Thanks, Greetings Jojo

Hi Jojo,

Thanks for letting me know about this. Unfortunately it seems that Google have managed to introduce a bug into the Android media database (MediaStore aka Media Storage) which Hi-Fi Cast relies on.

An updated version of the app is currently in Beta testing and should be available soon. Hopefully this will fix the issue.

If you don't want to wait until the app is out of beta then the following might fix things (I can't be sure because I don't have a Pixel phone to test with):
  • Delete your music from the phone (assuming you have a backup!)
  • Restart the phone, wait a few minutes and then open the Hi-Fi Cast app. There's shouldn't be any music listed
  • Copy your music back to the phone
  • Wait a few minutes and then tap Refresh from the 3-dot menu at the top-right of the Hi-Fi Cast app
  • Hopefully things will now work!
If you have a large amount of music on the phone then you could test the above procedure with just a single album to check that it works before doing all of your music.
If you (or anyone else reading this) decide to try this I'd love to know if it helps or not :)

Regards,
Brett
