A majority of my albums are MP3, but I do have some FLACs and one WAV album.

On the WAV album, I've verified all of the metadata tagging is correct, but the app is showing <unknown> for the artist. It also will not show the album art that is in the folder.

In addition, ~40% of my total albums are not displaying album art, even after I've replaced the album image files in their respective folders and also embedded the image in the audio files. I've verified they show correctly on my desktop players and in the Google Play Music app.

Any idea what's wrong? I've hit the Refresh option a few times and cleared the app cache twice. Some of the images are high resolution (nearly 1500x1500), if you think that might be related.

 Hi,

The app actually relies on Android itself to extract the tags so I can only assume that Android (specifically the MediaStorage system app) isn't very good at reading the tags from WAV files. All of my Android devices also show the artists as <unknown> for WAV files. And AFAIK, Android will only process embedded album art, ignoring image files in the album folders.

As for the 40% of albums missing album art, maybe the Android media scanner hasn't rescanned your media since you embedded the images. The only way I know to fix this is to clear the MediaStorage data. Instructions are here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/hi-cast-help-forum/NZOY1chpvs4

Good luck.

Cheers,

Thanks for the response. I guess I will convert the WAV to FLAC then, no big deal

As for media rescanning, I found an app to make it easy, Media Re.Scan. Works great and doesn't take too long to scan. What did take a long time was waiting for those thumbnails to be generated afterwards, but I let it run overnight and it came out nearly perfect. Just a couple of albums were left over so I'll poke those with new images.

Your app is great for local casting, better than anything else I've found! Purchasing now.

Awesome. I didn't know about Media.Re.Scan. I'll add it to the troubleshooting page.
