Hi all,
Tried to play an ALAC file from my LMS to a PiCorePlayer using the free version of HiFi Cast without any success. MP3 files played well. I thought I'd go for the premium version as I like the interface and thinking it will all playing all sort of music files including ALAC and Hi6Res audio.
So, just purchases the premium for life version and tried it right away.
Sadly, I'm still having the same problem.
Is there any support for this app who can help me solve my problem, or should cancel my purchase?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Cheers,
Naass

Hi,

First, disable 'Multi-Control Point Mode' in Settings > UPnP/DLNA. This feature doesn't work with some UPnP/DLNA renderers and perhaps PiCorePlayer is one of them. After changing this setting you may need to restart PiCorePlayer and exit Hi-Fi Cast (stop playback and then swipe Hi-Fi Cast from the recents screen to ensure the app is properly closed).

Also, in the email you sent me I noticed that your media server is generating a mime type of 'audio/x-m4a-lossless'. I don't recall ever seeing this mime type before so maybe PiCorePlayer doesn't recognise  it.

Hi there, Thanks for your reply. Disabling Multi-Control Point Mode and rebooting pCP player and my mobile phone didn't solve the problem. I am attaching 3 screen shots. First showing the pCP player playingthe track and given the bit rate, it is clearly not a 96k trac as shown in the next screen shot.
HiFi Cast wrong format.jpg
Notice, the pCP player is shown as playing in HiFi Cast. So it isn't a problem in pCP or my files as they are all in M4A Apple Lossless format. Some of them are Hi-Res, but for the test we're doing the trak is in 16/44.1.
I attach a screenshot of the Help/Diagnostics in HiFi Cast if it can help in anyway to solve the matter.
I use Squeezer without a problem at all, but I liked the HiFi Cast interface. That's why I purchased the premium version thinking I will able to use it instead of Squeezer. WasI tooquick to trigger the purchase?
Thanks in advance for your help and I remain ready to provide you with any data you may need.
Regards,

Thanks for that extra information.

I think there's a problem with the LMS DLNA (UPnP) plugin on your server. In the example, the file extension is .aif which is obviously not right for an ALAC file, the mime-type is wrong and the file URL appears to not work. All I can suggest is to force the DLNA plugin to rescan/reindex all of your files. Sorry I'm not very familiar with LMS so I'm not sure how you would do this.

And I don't know why the files play OK with Squeezer. Maybe it doesn't use DLNA?????

Also, it you would like a refund just let me know.

Cheers.

Hi there,
In the example, I was playing an *.M4A extension, not *.aif.
It doesn't make sense to see HiFi Cast attempting to play a file called "download.aif, while I am trying to play "Throw It Away.m4a".
HiFi Cast has surely a problem because I said Squeezer app and even VLC app are playing the file without any problem.
I am attaching another screen shot which shows another file details.
If there are no cure to my problem, then off course, I would kindly ask you to refund my payment and cancel the premium purchase.
Thanks for your help.
