"Album" view shows songs in alphabetical order rather than track # order but "Folders" view shows them in correct track # order. The source is a DLNA server. Is this a bug or am I missing a way to change the sort order?

I'm not aware of any bug related to the track order. When you're browsing the contents of an album, HiFiCast tells the server to return the songs in 'Track Number' order (if the server supports the DLNA sort function). What DLNA server are you using?

I'm using a Netgear R6400 router. See video link below.  It's weird because it doesn't have any issue in folder view. While I have your attention, I also want to point out that the media receiver in this app still bares the name "Default Media Receiver" rather than it's proper name and shows up as such in Google Home application and the notification for playback control via Google Play Services. It'd be preferable to have it changed to the app's name.

Ah ha. The DLNA software used by many Netgear products (ie ReadyDLNA/MiniDLNA) requires that the client (eg HiFiCast) specifies the sort order or else it will return tracks in alphabetical order. HiFiCast does specify a sort order (well, I thought it did!) so I'm not sure why it is not working for you. I'll do some more investigation and get back to you.

And thanks for alerting me about the app name in Google Home.

The latest version of HiFiCast (1.038) has a new configuration option that you can set to try and force your media server to list tracks in the correct order.

Try this:
  • Go to the 'Select Media Server' Screen
  • Tap the Spanner icon - this will open the configuration screen for the media server
  • Set the 'Force sort order for album tracks' option to 'Always'
  • Navigate back to your album and see if the tracks are now in the correct order. If not, try hitting 'Refresh' from the menu and check the album again
  • Select 'Send Feedback' from the menu and let me know if it fixed the problem. And please tap the 'Include system info' checkbox before hitting the Send (Envelope) item in the toolbar.

Thanks.

I had similar problem with ALAC files playing correctly in number order but FLAC files playing alphabetically - I depeted the song titles in properties for the album file as this was what was being accessed- the FLAC files now play in number order as there is no title for it to use

Hi,

I just ran into this again.   I have a Kodi UPNP server, hosting FLAC tracks.  I had previously found that Hifi-cast would sort alphabetically by default, but I believe I solved this, with older versions of Hifi-cast, by asking the client to sort tracks.   However, I see, in the current version, that this doesn't work - I now always get tracks sorted alphabetically, regardless of the "Sort method for album tracks" setting.  Any ideas how I could fix?

Cheers,

Matthew

Hi,

Just as another note, using the same UPNP service from the Kodi client app on my phone does give the correct track order ...

Cheers,

Matthew
