remote access to Twonky DLNA Media Server on WD My Cloud

I recently purchased a WD NAS.  it is running the Twonky server.  Hi-Fi Cast works with it via WiFi from my Android phone.  I can access files on the NAS remotely but Hi-Fi Cast shows the server to be offline.  Am I asking for something that the app doesn't support?  Is it only in the paid version of the app?  Mark

Hi Mark,

There's no direct support but some people have had success accessing their server remotely when using a VPN. For this to work you'll need to have the 'Keep remote devices online' setting enabled in Settings > UPnP/Settings. The 'Use VPN interface' setting may (or may not) also help.

BTW. Currently the only difference between the paid and unpaid version of the app is the advertising you see on the unpaid version.

Same problem here.

Hi-fi can find the server through VPN when if i'm connected with wifi. With cellular i can play music but cannot find the dlna server.

I have both options on, "keep remote devices online" and "Use VPN interface".

Any help?

Could you follow the instructions here (after you've established the VPN connection and are connected with cellular).

I have managed to make it work, by turning off the option "Network Check".
