Some Huawei/Honor phones have battery optimizations that can cause the music to stop playing when the screen goes off or the app is in the background.

The optimizations can be disabled via the Android Settings app. The exact procedure for disabling the optimizations depends on the model of the phone.

Some examples:
  • Settings
    • Power Saving
    • Protected Apps
    • Enable Hi-Fi Cast
  • Settings
    • Battery
    • App Launch
    • Select Hi-Fi Cast and enable 'Run in background'
  • Settings
    • Apps
    • Select 'Settings' at the bottom of the screen
    • 'Special Access'
    • Ignore optimizations
    • Select Hi-Fi Cast and tap Allow
  • Settings
    • Apps
    • Select Hi-Fi Cast
    • Battery
    • Disable the 'Power-intensive prompt' setting
    • Change the 'Launch' setting to 'Manage manually' and enable all 'Manage manually' settings

I have a Huawei CAN-L01, have disable the 'power-intensive prompt' and allowed that it ignores power optimizations (Settings/Battery/Close apps after screen lock/Hi-fi-cast/don't close). And still sometimes music play stops when the screen goes to sleep.
Today I found a new setting - Battery/Power-intensive apps/hi-fi-cast/keep awake - and tried to select it. It does not work, can not select this feature.
Has anyone an idea, what I can try to get music without interruptions by the sleep mode?

some new observations
I tried now different combinations of media servers and playback devices. All combinations tried with the hi-fi-cast app running on the huawei CAN-L01 (or nova)
1) media server - nas drive synology ds218j, playback device - hama IT900MBT
2) media server - huawei CAN L01, playback device - hama IT900MBT
3) mdeia server - nas drive synology ds 218j, playback device - huawei CAN-L01
Combinations 2 and 3 are working perfect, no gaps, everything is working as expected.
Using combination 1, between two consecutive songs a gap of 3 to 6 minutes (approximate values) occurs. This leads to my conclusion, that the gap is not depending on the sleep mode of the huawei handy.
Some ideas?
Tomorrow I will try those combinations with a sony xperia tablet.
