Phone's volume control keep switching to "Casting" rather than "Media"

I’ve started experiencing an unusual problem when using Hi-Fi Cast.
Once in around every dozen times I open the app on my Galaxy S10+ smartphone, the volume buttons at the side – which are set to control the media volume through the built-in speakers – randomly switch to controlling the casting volume instead, even though I haven’t been casting for weeks, rendering volume control useless.
When the problem occurs and I switch away from the app to something else, the volume buttons go back to controlling media. But when I switch back to Hi-Fi Cast, the buttons switch back to controlling casting volume.
I’ve tried all sorts of things to fix it, but the only thing that works is a complete restart of the phone.
Is there any way I can prevent this from happening?
