Shea, as you know, I believe the directory
referenced in our WG's plan should include all area
organizations who are willing to publish their "about us"
statements on the Web in StratML format.
Student volunteers could be recruited to help, using the form at
http://stratml.us/forms/Part1Form.xml.
That would be a great learning experience for them as well as a
service to the community. It would support the education,
workforce,
and center
of excellence objectives in the comp plan.
Here's an example, for Safe Harbour: http://stratml.us/carmel/iso/part2/HHISHwStyle.xml
Since the information is in machine-readable format, it would be
easy for online service providers to index, aggregate, and present
it in a directory(ies) on the Web, both for alphabetical browsing
as well as more complex, multi-faceted querying. We just need to
challenge and give them the (economic/business) opportunity to do
so.
The HHISF file includes some relationship links to relevant
objectives in the draft comp plan, demonstrating how cross-walks
can be documented and hyperlinked across plans of multiple
organizations (as virtual
partners). Value-added intermediaries (e.g., local news
media) can provide services enabling the partnering orgs, town
officials and staff, as well as taxpayers and other stakeholders
to readily track the performance of public objectives.
Organizations seeking funding from the Town should be required to
document how their objectives support a "truly connected"
community and periodically report their performance indicators,
thereby enabling not merely a directory but also a virtual
performance management/reporting system.
