Hi Everyone

This is going to both the new feasts email group and the PCMs. After this email, the PCM group will only get the odd update.  If you would like to get involved or provide input, please join the Feasts group and help us plan it. Sign up here:

Website
The website BurningBush.org is being set up and will most likely be up in a few weeks.  The website design is being put together by Brent, Caleb and Anthony. Next comes content.
Content is going to be important to create both text and photos.  If you have photos from past events, please forward them to me.

Promotion
How do you want to pitch this event?  As a christian retreat, a libertarian/free thinkers event  or an activities event?  This might seem obvious, but depending on what angle we take will depend on who we are trying to attract.  Obviously those traveling from outside the area will most likely be HHC people.

I don't really think we should be advertising to the general public on any scale this year as we have no facilities or infrastructure as yet.  Yes mobile buildings are planned.  We will have very basic toilets, probably only one for men and one for women and the waste will probably just go into a hole in the ground, then move the bathrooms a few feet to the next hole as it fills.  The last thing we want/need is a hygiene, toilet overflow problem.
With rough numbers in, we should have about 50 people minimum. I expect anywhere between 60 & 80.  Even with 50 people, I think bathrooms will be an issue.

I think it should be promote it as a fall retreat and that would attract mostly Christians and mostly from within our own ranks and friends of friends etc.  Perhaps next year we expand into advertising it as an events week too.  That is not to say we are not pushing the skills/activities.  As I write this, I can see the initial direction of this event needs a conference call to bring out suggestions - this is too big to cover it in an email.  Can someone with Talkshoe experience set up a call? for this weekend sometime - Sunday?
There is a lot to do here in Summer lake and I don't know what we can get done.

Activities/classes
Who do we have willing to put on some sort of activities?  please email the group with what you would like to do.  I don't know how short or long these events need to be and whether we have several running a day or one or two a day - depends on how many people come forward I suppose and the nature of the activity.

If you want to do something, but don't know what to do, lets have some ideas.  You still have time to learn something, test it and then host an activity and share.  Making a rocket stove out of food cans for instance. If anyone want to learn this to show at the event, let me know as I have a video of how to make one. With a little bit of research, this could be expanded and a fun little skill.

I will do the following:
Talk & Demo - why yurts are so good and how to set one up.
Making a refrigerator from two clay pots.  I have not made one myself yet, it's new to me, so we will make a few and test them in different environments/locations.  Might be a good one for kids.  I want to be able to chill a drink

What do you guys want to do?

Talks
What talks do we want to put on. Gregory will obviously talk, but what subjects do we want to hit.  Obviously there will be impromptu talks going on all the time and around the camp files.

Musicians
Do we have any in our ranks that can play anything and would be wiling to do something alone/together?

Evening Movie ideas

What next?
Can you guys email your individual groups and put a lot of the questions raised here out.  If anyone would like to get involved, tell them to join the Feasts email group. Find out who would like to:
Host an activity
Can play music
Come up with ideas etc etc.

Unfortunately I will be distracted for the next week. I will be on a job site in WA working long hours to remove 20 ton transformers from a substation.

OK,  barring any others lets do the talkshow.  Can someone send out the invite to the PCM list and then we can put it out on the network.  I don't think that there will be too many on the call.
