Even a few advertisers are using "Twenty-ten"; it's shorter, sounds succinct
and to the point. I'm sure all will adjust soon.
my wife said it this morning, i corrected her for you
i've been calling it two thousand ten. would you prefer twenty ten?
I'm calling it 010 (oh ten) just because I want to, just like we used to
say 09.
My wife's boss just sent her an e-mail stating, " All the best in '10 "...
which also sounds pretty cool.

It's a picayune thing, I know, but I've disliked the "Two thousand..."
thing since 2001. I recall celebrating New Year's 2001 in a club
downtown, and when I turned to someone sand said, "Happy Twenty oh one" --
thinking of the way we'd used "Nineteen..." throughout the 20th century,
and never "One thousand, nine hundred..." -- she paused and said, "Oh I
get it... Good one! LOL!" Her response just confused me :)

Even better! Just like '76, etc.
Up till now, I've used "Two thou' one," etc. Whenever I used "Twenty...,"
people seemed to find it strange.
The long way -- "Two thousand..." -- reminds me of French class, where it
was always, "dix-neuf cent, soixante-seize"... talk about a mouthful! ;)
In casual conversation, I'm sure "soixante-seize" sufficed, though.

Richard started me using "Twenty-O" sometime in the mid "0"s... at first it
sounded a little odd, but the more I thought about it the more it made
sense. When anyone asked me why I said it that way, I'd say "Did you say
'Nineteen hundred and ninety-nine... or 1999?"
That always made people think twice ;).
I call it twenty-ten. Just like nineteen-ten, eighteen-ten, etc.
My wife, family and former employer seem to be OK with this. But then
again, I get along with them fine. :-)
Ice!

I notice that Rex Murphy has been saying "Two thousand *oh* nine," etc.
throughout the decade. That's the strangest yet... I wonder if it's even
a valid way of saying it.

'10 does indeed sound pretty cool. The Chinese have 2010 as year of the
tiger :-0
Twenty-ten is fine because it causes no confusion. Saying
twenty-nine on the other hand, is confusing. The form there would
have been twenty O-nine ... equivalent to ninteen O-eight.
