I have two guys that work for me part time that have regular day jobs
as painters.

Are you supplying all of the material or expect them painters to bring
their own brushes, rollers, drop cloths ... etc ?

$15 per man, per hour if it is completely supplied, and $20 per hour
if they are to use their own gear.

If you are considering it, you may also want to get your paint through
me.

I assure you that you can not get top grade paint cheaper than I can
unless you are getting it for free somehow.

JR,

I know your comment was about your current salary and not that I was
overcharging but I foresee a debate on quality of painters starting so
I will address it now.

$15 per hour for professional painters is pretty cheap actually.

The two stories of my own home tell a story about experience and
professionalism versus just some guy that will swing paint brush.

I am an accredited (But no longer registered) Interior Decorator and I
had one of the best guys in town paint my house when I bought it.

Then I had a sewer back up and the whole lower lever had to be gutted
and was painted by one of those Fire and Water Restoration companies.

There is a huge and very noticeable difference in the quality of work

The wall and ceiling transitions are straight lines on the top floor
and the lower level is wavey.

There are roller marks in the walls on the lower level and there was
missed spots which I went back over myself.

It has been a tear now since the new drywall went in so I will be
having the drywall nail heads redone and the lower level repainted by
someone who knows what they are doing.

First, my two previous accidental posts were accidents and I tried to
remove them as soon as I posted them. I have apologized repeatedly
for those two posts. I will not continue to apologize for them.

However this was quite intentional, there is nothing wrong with it,
and if anyone posts in this or any group that I am active in, looking
for a service that I offer, I will respond to it no matter what you or
anyone else says.

I maintain active participation in this group outside of my business'
and if someone posts looking for a service that I offer, I will indeed
offer it.

I do not participate in this forum solely for my personal gain and a
quick run through my posts should prove that. 99% of what I post is
to try to help someone looking for information and with the exception
of my errors, I always remain professional and ethical.

I fail to see how responding to a post seeking a service that I offer,
in a forum which I am active in, could be interpreted as
unprofessional or unethical.

I obviously have painted a big bullseye on myself for making those two
posts in error and apparently you folks either choose to not believe
that they were errors or simply dislike me.

That is cool ... I can take it and understand that I may have brought
this distrust on myself, but if you are going to bash my posts, then
find something legitimate to whine about.

He/she posted seeking a service and a price for a service that I
provide and I responded. I did not post an advertisement .. I
responded to a direct request.

Lets not split hairs folks.

No violation of ethics, general professionalism, charter or AUP has
occurred.

Sheena, you simply do not like me and I have no idea why since you
obviously don't know absolutely anything about me, my morales or how I
conduct my business'.

You assume that my errors were intentional attempts at promotion, and
I have explained the difference. If you choose not to believe that,
then again, that is on you.

Bottom Line Here: I did nothing wrong! And you know it.

Instead of attacking the person that pointed it out, why not admit you
were wrong and move on ?

Sheena,

Your post makes absolutely no sense.

If you accuse me or anyone of doing something they did not do, then
yes, common courtesy dictates an apology. Do you really need to ask if
you should apologize?

I have talked about my business' very little in this forum other than
the two errors where I had the wrong group open when I posted and
immediately apologized and attempted to delete those posts.

This post today is very different.

It is a direct response to a directly asked questions and there is
nothing wrong with my post in this thread.

So here is my question to you. You have to know that there is nothing
wrong with the post that I made ... so why follow up my post with your
silliness?

What purpose did it have ? What did you hope to accomplish ?

Better yet, please tell me what my post violates? Ethics? AUP? Common
Courtesy?

What am I and what seems to be everyone but you and Rick missing that
provoked you to post that?

I'll do it for $300 cash. My friend and I have painted some rental places

am sure we could do it in 1 Day as well. I can supply

Ben,

Not trying to be funny ... but if you are going to hire my painters,
then we can talk :)

I can not publicly say where I get my paint so do not ask.

Speaking generally, I pay around $10 - $11 per gallon for high end
Exterior Oil Primer and Exterior Later Flat.

Most BIG contractors pay $18 - $20 for the same paint and they retail
for around $40 - $45

I do not sell paint and even if I did and offered it to him along with

No justification, no admitting you were wrong again in another attack

I see nothing wrong with him replying to someone's inquiry about a service

service to someone to someone who inquired about it. Lucky for him, It just
so happens that he has an inside on Good Quality Paint at a low cost, and he
offered it to the person at that cheap pace if he hire his painters. He did
not go out of his way to advertise,,, he simply replied to a question.

I would call it smart marketing.

trolling idiot within the newsgroup. If your client allows the ability to

Unfortunately I think she really is that thick. She is a real, mobile,
person. She gets upset when Canadian Tire won't let her grandson use her
credit card, yet would snap at a moment's notice if someone stole her card
and they didn't stop it.

She gets upset when through her own stupidity, she forgets to put up the
handicap parking permit while driving around her late ill husband, and some
good Samaritan writes a nasty note (seeing a car parked in the spot WITHOUT
a permit), yet would snap at a moment's notice if she couldn't get a
handicap spot because they are all filled with non-permit holders (or so she
can tell, since they may be stupid like herself and not put up the permit).

When half the province doesn't have power, a state of emergency has been
declared, trees are knocked down everywhere, the total damage to the power
infrastructure is unknown and unprecedented, NSP is swamped with hundreds of
times the workload as normal, and people keep swamping the NSP call center,
she gets upset because NSP can't give her an exact time that her power is
going to be back, and that she's going to throw out her back hauling water
in from the city, because she's sharing her generator with a neighbour and
has no ability to selectively run appliances, and team up with her neighbour
to pool resources such that she can share with the neighbor and run the
water pump.

You know, they both run sets of fridges, etc for 4-5 hours, shut everything
off to run the well pump for 30 minutes (to pump enough water for the both
of them), then turn everything back on.

Then she gets upset at Canadian tire because they won't deliver and install
her water softener salt free of charge because she has a bad back from the
above forementioned hauling water in from town.

She gets upset if someone offers their services (in direct response to an
inquiry for those services), gets on top of anyone remotely doing anything
that "should" be in hfx.general, yet will willingly clutter up this place
with free wallpaper ads.

Sometimes I agree with her and other times I find she's extremely thick.
There is no getting through to her, so the best thing to do is ignore her
when she's being thick.

I own a lighting company and if someone requested on this group, I
would post a url and a request to contact me. After that, it is between
customer and supplier, so I'd take it to e-mail.

it also does not take any ads off the group. Once that starts, the

This is something that confuses the hell out of me. Schooner seems to
think we want our own private group. Well, if that were the case, then
it'd be too easy to set up a Yahoo room or whatever, where total control
could be exercised over the comings and goings, and what was said.
Fortunately, that's not the case.

There's a perfectly good newsgroup here, and all it needs is for it to be
used the way it was intended to be used. If people weren't so lazy (or
inconsiderate) to look up what "netiquette" is (or what their AUPs say),
then the newsgroup would function exactly the way it was intended, and
these threads would become a thing of the past.

Problem is, it's too easy for someone to be ignorant and just do whatever
the hell pleases them, without any regard for anyone else.

Selfishness at it's finest.

Incondideratness? Sounds like someone who just had dental work done ;-)

That's a good point though, Richard. I'd like to know if any of the
people who are vocal against the "newsgroup cops" (as they put it) use
public transit.

If so, then I'm sure I could arrange to meet them at their bus stop, and
serenade them with bagpipes all the way to work. I'm certain there's no
by-law against bagpipe playing on buses, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't
hear about it :)

FWIW, I can't play the bagpipes, but for someone that doesn't like the
sound of them, I'm sure nobody could tell...

They have that sign saying radios must be played with headphones. I'm sure
the bus driver would ask you to stop, then kick you off if you didn't.

However, I think you can bug him at the bus stop.

Is a bagpipe a radio? Can you fit a bagpipe with headphones?

Do you see this sounding a lot like the arguments being used by the people
disrupting the newsgroups?

Seeing how you have such a short memory, I'll keep that in mind the next
time you want help with an FTP server, or something like that. Does "go

No no,,, I remember. And your advice was crap that didn't work anyway.

And you are STILL a MEATHEAD. It wasn't meant to hurt your feelings,,, just
a little dig to try to calm you down a bit. Guess it did the opposite.

Hmmm...you really *do* have a short memory. You're calling *me* the
meathead, while it was you that was trying to set up a secure FTP server,
and trying to figure out how to embed the username and password into the
link to the server. Despite what I and others told you, you seemed to
think it was a good idea anyways. Remember? Google does :)

http://groups.google.com/groups?q=ftp+server+blaze+group:hfx.general&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&selm=T_l5c.117413%24IF6.3866008%40ursa-nb00s0.nbnet.nb.ca&rnum=1

So don't blame my advice, what I told you worked. You were just too thick
to use it, meathead.

Have a nice day.
