Frank magazine does not have an online edition so you will have to
pick it up at your local grocery/drug store or news stand. The article
talks about the fact that she has been married 5 times and that she
owes EVERYBODY in town money, including Elizabeth Chui. ( who I, by the
way, think does a very good job for ATV). Many of you might remember
Joanne Clancy when she was Joanne Stefanyk among other names. She used
to be on CBC televison with Jordy Morgan. Joanne can be seen in the
morning on ATV doing the news on BT. By the way, does anyone know what
happened to Anne Drewa? She was great in the morning, full of energy
and pleasant to look at - the exact opposite of ol' sour face Clancy!

Last I heard, she was doing the horizontal mambo with Bruce Frisko.
<gaak>

I did see her doing a news standup on Robie St after the last storm, so
she's still around.

Joanne's a broadcaster; not the best, but at least she can read.
Married five times? Well, I don't believe everything I read in "Frank".
Owing money, who doesn't? And if you think Chui is good, that's your
opinion, but she looks like she's trying too hard. And has, ever since she
started... Years ago.

Drewa also did the Saturday Morning "Good Morning Canada" show for a
while, but this week it was broadcast from somewhere out west. I saw Anne
do a remote broadcast from New Brunswick last week, and I saw the one on
Robie. I'd like to know what's up with her, because she's a Damn good
reporter/host/personality. She has it all, but what is going on?

Anne is tops in my book, and the hottest of them all- even moreso than
Lizzie, and I don't mean Rigney. She reads well, interviews well, hosts well
and looks GOOD.

You're quoting Frank magazine as some type of real journalism ?? You
read that trash and have the balls to call Clancy names ??? Puuleeeease
tell me you're joking. I made the mistake of buying that piece of trash
magazine once (I'll try anything once)...it's nothing but pure TRASH. I
find this NG more interesting !!

Good news; Anne Drewa is back. She did the news and weather this
morning during BT. I agree with previous posters who would rather not
see Joanne Clancy doing the morning (or any for that matter) news. Yes,
she can read, but that's about it. She is not the least bit engaging
and at times looks like she has just rolled out of the wrong side of
the bed. I know that the news is not designed to entertain but Anne
Drewa somehow projects warmth and sincerity in her delivery. Ms. Clancy
leaves me cold. I remember one time seeing her try to do the weather
while bantering with steve murphy, she was saying things like gee
golly, gee wilikers and holy smokes over and over. Steve Murphy stopped
and asked her "what exactly is a gee wililker? " As far as being
married 5 times, I heard that it is only 4. Whatever, the point is,
Anne's back and joanne is out. The morning news looks a whole lot
better.

I also think that Anne Drewa is an excellent newsreader for ATV - seems
very friendly and personable, doesn't stumble over words.
My only issue with her is how she says Cape Breton. :)

Oopps, you are correct, Frank reports "only" 4 marriages as well.

Joanne Clancy read the news this evening filling in for Steve Murphy.
She did an okay job reading the news but really dropped the ball when
given the opportunity to interview John Hamm the day after the "big
offshore deal" was signed. Her questions were lame and she did not
challenge his ambiuous responses. ATV has only one skilled interviewer
(by ATV standards) and that is Steve Murphy. In the past they have
gotten rid of serious journalists in favor of lite entertaining
reporters. Joanne is neither. ATV really needs to have a creditable and
sincere replacement when Steve Murphy is unable to do the news.

You and I must obviously watch a different Steve Murphy or ATV News.
I've always thought he's asked the questions the listeners wanted to
have asked of the person being interviewed. He does an excellent job.

My wife knows someone that lives a few doors from Star and she told her that Star is VERY big feeling person.

I sure miss Ron K. He was a class act. A ***** rating in my books.

I feel that Murphy conducts good interviews. Many times the questions he asks aren't what the interviewees want to hear.
When they try to give a politicians type of answer he hits them at a different angle.

I too think that Steve Murphy does a very good job of asking the
tougher questions during interveiws. In fact, he is the only one who
challenges the viewer to critically think about the day's events. ATV
live at 5 does not offer much for the thinkers among us and the 6pm
news can at times be sacchrine and banal. I think that ATV could use an
overhaul in the on-air host dept. When Steve Murphy is ill or on
vacation the whole thing falls apart. The substitutes are not
broadcasters and fumble their way through. Elizabeth Chui seems sweet
but lacks confidence, Joanne Clancey drove me crazy when she worked for
CBC TV and is even worse now. I say, bring back Ron Kronstein or
perhaps focus on bringing along Paul Hollingsworth. He seems to have
the right stuff. I don't mind Anne Drewa in the morning, in fact she is
very good. As far as Liz Rigney goes, well she should do the news but
some of her reports are kinda cute.

Are you referring to Linda Kelly? I think Norma Lee MacLeod is now
doing the supper time news. As far as J Clancy is concerned, it has
little to do with her appearance...ok, she is no Anne Drewa...but more
to do with the fact that her style and delivery is so flat. The Frank
mag thing doesn't help either. I glanced at it (didn't buy) the other
day while in a check -out line. Don't know if any of it is true but I
do remember that years ago she was front page news about one of her
other husbands and that there were credit judgements filed against her.
Sounds like not much has changed.
