CHAMPION TOURNEY AND LAUREL TOURNEY DETAILS:
5. Champion's Tourney (Fighting)
This martial tourney is used to test the martial prowess of the
candidates. Monarch and Champion candidates must show they can fight
safely and competently as defined by the Autocrat of Quals. Regent
candidates are not required to enter.
a. This martial tournament has seven categories; sword and shield,
single sword, double sword, archery (or other missile), Monarch's
choice, 2-man team. Monarch candidates must enter at least three
categories. Champion candidates must enter at least five.
b. Champion candidates enter the tourney with a starting score equal
to his Reeve's Test score. Each round he wins adds bonus points to
this score. At the end of the tourney, the holder of the highest
modified score becomes the next Champion.
c. Non-candidate participants may compete in the tourney. The winner
of the tourney is declared Weaponmaster for the coming reign.
d. The incumbent Champion will organize the tourney. If the Champion
is also a candidate, it will be organized by the GM of Reeves or an
appointed deputy.
e. Will be held in the second or third week of the Quals series, and
may be combined with the Laurel's Tourney.
6. Laurel's Tourney (Arts & Sciences)
An Arts and Sciences competition used to display the artistic prowess
of the candidates. Candidates are not required to win the tourney, but
must perform well, as defined by the Autocrat of Quals.
a. The thirteen events will be:
• Accessories: Court Accessories, Field(Fighting) Accessories, Favors,
Jewelry, Belts
• Armor Construction: Bracers, Greaves, Breastplates, Chainmail,
Leather
• Bardic/Performance: Singing, Oratory, Instrumental, Dance
• Brewing: Mead, Wines, Beers
• Cooking: Appetizers, Main Courses, Desserts, Recipe Writing
• Construction: Passive, Active
• Sewing/Garbing: Quilts, Banners, Tents, Bags, Fighting Outfits,
Court Outfits, Monster Garb, Other Outfits
• Rose (donations to the kingdom) : Anything that is made specifically
for donation to the club.
• Weapons Construction: Swords, Shields, Polearms
• Writing: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Poetry, Publications
• 2D Art: Drawings, Photographs, Paintings
• 3D Art: Sculptures, Small item Woodworking
• Equestrian: Martial Arts (Combat), Armor, Barding, Trapping,
Caparisons, Ballet, Demonstration. (This category requires
authorization from an Equestrian Reeve).
b. Scoring: Each competitor’s highest-scoring entry in each category
will be averaged together for an overall score. Un-entered categories
are not considered. The overall winner will be declared the Laurel for
the coming reign.
c. Non-candidate participants may compete in the tourney.
d. The Tourney is organized by the incumbent Regent (who may not be a
judge). If the Regent is also a candidate, it will be run by an
appointed deputy.
e. Will be held in the second or third week of the Quals series, and
may be combined with the Champion's Tourney.
