Ecclesiastes 3:1-14
The old year is a memory of the past. In 2015 each of us had our share of successes, failures, disappointments, grieve, heartaches, painful OR happy memories, regrets and pressures. Whether we have succeeded in keeping the resolutions which we’ve made at the beginning of 2015, is of NO further consequence.
NOTHING we do OR say can affect negative outcomes of 2015.
Over the years, I’ve found that New Year’s resolutions are just a Phenomenon….a grasp in the wind. Maybe our intention is good, BUT it’s NOT within OUR power to keep New Year’s resolutions. Half way down the road of 2016 it will DEFINITELY disintegrate. And ALL will come to NOTHING. The lives we are living have been preordained. Everything that IS, WAS. There’s ABSOLUTELY nothing new under the sun.
King Solomon, the third king of Israel made the following statement: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens; a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. What do workers gain from their toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart, yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God. I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-14). If Solomon’s statements are fact, we COULD ask ourselves the question: “If we are NOT in control of our OWN destiny, what’s the use living? WHATEVER we do, WILL eventually come to NOTHING. It makes us think, DOESN’T it?
The ANSWER to THESE questions is found in Jeremiah 29: 11-13(NIV) “ For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” And Romans 8:28-30 (NIV) “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.”
In conclusion, I wish to thank ALL my brothers and sisters in Christ a prosperous New Year. Seek the face of God in 2016 and HE will direct your path. He has the power to subject ALL things unto Himself. HE will act on YOUR behalf.
