Not cutting gives you 180. 120 = 180-60. 150=180-30. Sounds ok? Really doing plywood for playa? I thought only the shiny stuff protected from the sun. :-?

I am building the H13 and need some help. I'm ready to cut the blocks, but they are 120 and 150 degrees. My saw reads up to 45 degrees. What is the conversion? I know it's simple, but my level of fatigue has thrown common sense out the window. Must get this done tonight! Please help.

Junglebrad, are you beveling edges?

I would assume you're beveling edges, which would also make me wonder if you're using plywood instead of polyiso panels.

If you happen to be using polyiso panels, there is no need to bevel the edges if you use the Camp Danger hinge technique.  I built the H13 for the playa last year with polyiso panels, no beveled edges, and I used the Camp Danger hinge technique.  It worked great.

I have to chime in with Lucas as well about being somewhat concerned with using (heavy) plywood panels on the playa with weak R factors.  Yes, plywood is better than nothing but, there's no comparison to polyiso insulating/shielding capacities.  Your yurt will get hot, and will also be heavy, which means you have to build it very well (sturdily), as I've heard the winds will be back this year.  And you don't want heavy plywood panels falling on your head, spine etc.  Sorry to be alarmist but, plywood yurts on the playa alarm me. If there is anyone out there with positive plywood yurt experiences on the playa, please counter my (our) fears and chime in.

Yes, sorry I forgot to mention, this will be made of plywood.  It's not for a sleeping shelter, rather, a DJ Booth, and will have a swamp cooler attached.  So if I set my saw to 20 degrees, I can get a 120 block, and set to 50 degrees, I can get a 150 degree block?

I believe the sum must be 180. Perpendicular = 90+90. Or 120+60. Or 150+30. So if you cut at 30 that's the complement of 150.
Or I dont understand what tool you use, sorry. :-?
