I am the guy who never does anything like anyone else, and it can be an annoying personality trait. Case in point:
I designed a thermal structure. I can't exactly call it a yurt, it's more of a vault. It has advantages (tall, gravity holds door shut, provides a small amount of shade, uses only 8 panels).
I like my design but it is lacking in the "built beforehand, easily assembled on the playa" component. It just doesn't collapse for transport like the traditional hexayurt design. This is its fatal flaw I believe.
What do you think of my design? Wanna help me revise it?
I have one roll of 6", one roll of 3" and silver tape. Not a lot, I know.
I don't know why I have to always be so difficult. Story of my life. I have a problem with duplicating a concept - I always feel the need to revise or customize. You should see how many projects I have that are like that.

Well, you're learning the value of triangles ;-)
I'd start by putting in some triangles - those end pieces, for
example, could well become triangles. Think of a triangle 4' wide and
8' high - you can get two out of a 4x8 sheet.

Triangles... hmmm... Ok, How about this? It's ALL triangles. 8 panels. Floorspace? Hell if I know, it's a trapeziod. I can't math that. Hard to get a good angle on this shape. See the door? Whatcha think?
