Fun story for this group.

With a lot of help from this group, I made my first hexayurt a few months ago and set it up at LEAF. ( www.theleaf.com )

I got lots of positive feedback from other festival-goers. People _loved_ it.

One afternoon I went out for a walk and came back to find I had won an award for "Most Creative Campsite". :-)

Thank you to everyone in this group.

Here is a link to a photo-album I made that of the hexayurt:

Great photos, Paul, Congratulations on the award.

I'm new to studying hexayurts. Is there a "catch up" site? I don't read Dutch, alas, so the big .pdf isn't as informative for me. I have a project right now where I'd like to camp in a back yard for the few months it will take to repair the main house. Is it feasible to build a hexayurt and expect it to be serviceable beyond emergency housing? Summer's approaching, it won't have to stand up to much rain.

Oh, congratulations, that's wonderful Paul! Nice.

LEAF looks like a ton of fun, too. I'd quite like to use your IMGUR link as a "getting started with hexayurts" - nice pictures, good sense of what it's like to build one in a really friendly format - would that be OK?

Chita, I built a hexayurt with 2x4 frame and OSB sheathing. I used
rolled roofing on the roof and painted it. It's lasted 3 years so far
and is holding up well.

You might want to consider something similar using the H13 style plan.
It could be used as a shed once your main home is repaired. (My
hexayurt is now a milk barn and it's working great.)

Let me know if you'd like some photos or more details.

Regards,
Chad Cole

Read your notes in your blog about the logos.
I think you can wipe the logos ink off with isopropyl alcohol.

Holy carp! Seriously???!!!! That will help so much!

Can I get that at a hardware store? If so, is there a brand name for it?

    Hi--

The term "  isopropyl alcohol" refers to what's usually called rubbing alcohol. It's the common alcohol you see in drug stores, supermarkets, etc.

Hey Chad,

I'd like some photos and details on the yurt you described, especially around the frame, foundation, rolled roofing and treating the OSB.

I am away from home just now and ended up buying a new computer (long story) so I'm a tad out of synch. I looked at the H13 video and will look at it several times. It looks as if one has to bend over to get into the structure? Is that daylight showing up near seams and corners? I'm sure someone has done a floor plan with dimensions, I'm just too new to have read them yet.

Oh, there we are!

I've added it to the http://www.appropedia.org/Hexayurt_H13#H13_plywood wiki as an example. Really lovely work, I'm glad to see it!

Thank you for documenting,

Vinay
