There are a couple of ways of doing a 6' Stretch folding hexayurt. If
you make a cardboard and duct tape model, you'll be able to see the
folding mechanisms.
The first way is that you cut the two "end seams" - the 4' seams
which go from the ground to the bottom of the roof on the two ends of
the Hexayurt. Then you push the two ends together, and the roof kind
of "splays", the ends tuck into the center, touching each other, and
the Hexayurt folds flat. You can go a step further, flipping the
walls up, and it forms a tight 4' x 8' package.
Here's the problem: in reality, boards have thickness, typically 1".
In this folding mechanism, some of the seams stretch over four boards
in the folded form, which is not an easy thing to arrange. You could
(possibly) leave those few seams untaped and do them on the Playa.
Or you could do it the way you suggest, with two modules, a roof and
a wall module, both folding this way.
I've done a four component Six foot Stretch for the Playa, but never
a two component. It's definitely worth a shot.
If you do give it a try, please post pictures so we can all learn
from your Hexayurt!
