Hi Julie!  I'm a decor fan. Mostly I run to lights inside and out. (one day I'll publish that you tube...sigh)

On decor, painting, etc:
Below is my friend Swami's AMAZING mandala hexayurt. Way more trouble than I'd ever do, but he's a monk and also didn't have to build his hexayurt. He puts a white parachute from the ceiling which I've copied in my yurt (I also put my mood lights and high-brightness ugly ass LED white rope light BEHIND the parachute to soften everything.) I also use contact paper to cover the row of RMAX labels on the interior (contact paper is cheap at target, easy to put on, and takes down the shiny foil indoors.)

On staking down H13:
Form follows function, and always stake the yurt down better than it's decorated!  I have a photo of a finished H13 tie down. Somewhere.  However, I follow the "rope halo" approach (photo is embedded in that paragraph) which consists of a big circle of rope around the top of the yurt's roof-peak and then more ropes to tie it to the ground. On an H13, there are two roof peaks, so I recommend two rope halos, which might look like a rope in a figure eight from the bird's eye view. H13 is a design where a few added tape-anchors could be beneficial as well, if you care to mix the two strategies.

On chimney:
A buddy in SF recommends this roof van to vent out the hot air in the ceiling. Very easy to cut a port into the roof for it. It also works well if you use a swamp cooler, because the yurt is damn near air tight, and the vent makes negative pressure to help the swamp cooler out. I have one. I don't know if i

Lastly, I've gotta see this liter of light! I'll follow the thread. Thanks all!

Danger luv,

Most of the seams were created first, then painted over with the primer and other paints. Some seams had to be done AFTER it was taped to maintain the design. I reapplied the paint over the seams again after we taped it up on the Playa. Aw yeah....

Wow, beautfiul!  Glad to see it and hear how it was done.  I am using all tape now and hoping it doesn't melt off on the Playa.  All the new colored Duct tape of various brands, Scotch 3M and Duck.

We just got a swamp cooler so glad to hear about the Chimney.

Should we be bringing our pieces to actually do a H13 temp build on Sunday?  Or will we be working on one all together?
