I have used ratchet straps from HF for the last few years on my H13.  They work great.  I criss-cross them over the roof "ridge" and have never had a hint of movement.  I had poor luck with tape anchors, which I used my first year.  Had a couple break on me, so I started going up and over instead, and it works much better.  (At least, with the H13 design... this probably would NOT work well with the H12.)

Hey I am trying to find a good way to anchor an H13 Hexayurt without having to use a bunch of tape anchors.  It sounds like you managed to pull it off.  But I am not exactly sure about the placement.  When you say the "ridge" do you mean the point in the middle or along the crest of the roof.  If it is across the crest were they in the middle of it or was it shifted back towards the point or forward towards the gabled end.  Also last question that I have is did you use just 2 or 3 ratchet straps all together.
Sorry for all the questions lol
Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I basically did an X, front left to back right, front right to back left. The first time I also did a third over the gable, but found this unnecessary. If you have good deep rebar, and ratchet down the X, it doesn't budge, even in high wind. I would suggest doing a single twist in the ratchet straps where they lay flat across expanses of roof, though, or they'll tend to slap/vibrate in high winds which is annoying when you're trying to sleep.

Awesome! Thanks for the Advice!  With that method I think I'll be able to get all three combined into one big one!!!

Good call on the twist in the straps!

Oh I forgot to ask how long and wide were the ratchet straps.

I had to link two straps together to get the length,  but I used the standard 1" (I think)  wide ones.   You'd probably be better off with wider straps, as it would distribute the contact surface on the ridge more, but 1" will work.
