HelloI am looking for some advice of help from someone who can tell the the thruth about running Autocad 2016 on Windows 10 using Bootcamp on Macbook pro. Are there any issues ? how is the performance? Does windows 10 perform well on the mac ? Does Autocad 2015 perform well on Windows 10 ?

I know that Win 10 also runs on the Macbook but I have not tried that yet. If you are going to run 2015 make sure you get all the service packs applied. Windows 10 and AutoCAD 2017 also has some issues with legacy wide format printers.

It better not work, especially if you have a brand new Mac Book Pro. Apple stopped support with Windows 7 bootcamp awhile ago, like two or three years ago. I think it happened around the time that new OSX came out.

Hi @wispoxy, Yes, you are correct that it can no longer be installed but that is my current configuration even though it is not supported on newer Macs. I just wanted to indicate that AutoCAD 2017 was working fine in that environment.

I believe it might still be possible to install Windows 8.1 on Bootcamp but the push, of course, is to Windows 10. As I can't duplicate that configuration I cannot offer any advice to the OP one way or another for running it that way.

Hell John, well apparently my new Macbook Pro no longer supports Windows 7 on bootcamp. My Macbook Pro has certain hardware that will not be compatible via drivers in windows 7. So it only allows me to install windows 10. With that being said I would to speak to someone or get help from someone who is currentlty running Autocad 2016 in Windows 10 on their MacBook Pro.

As far as AutoCAD 2017 running in Windows 10, it is a supported product and for the most part seems to be running fine for the customers I have been in touch with. Here is an article that details Autodesk products in relation to Windows 10.

The only concerns I would have is if you have enough resources such as disk space and RAM for the OS and AutoCAD, Windows 10 printer drivers for any wide-format devices you use, and finally how well the Graphics card works in AutoCAD. The Radeon card is not on the certified list and I have no experience or customer experience that I can share regrading the graphics card.

Thank you John and everyone for their help. You are correct in term of the AMD graphics card that is installed on my MacBook Pro. That is the one concern that i have because i want Autocad to run efficiently. I am currently installing windows 10 in bootcamp. Then i will install Autocad and see if it works

If you have Win10 up and running give a Trial of AutoCAD 2017 a shot on it. Make sure you play with some 3D, some rendering, attaching files, wipeouts, etc to make sure things are performing for you properly.

I am glad you are updating your post. Can you tell me which graphics card you have in your Mac? I have seen in my own experience that the warning doesn't necessarily mean things won't work. Have you also installed all the available drivers from Apple for the configuration?

I just got Win10 installed and both AutoCAD 2016 and 2017 (with all hotfixes and service packs installed). I do not seem to have the graphics card issue you are seeing. Make sure that from the Start Button>Apple> you check for updates as mine had three available which included a Graphics card driver.

Hi @Anonymous, My MacBook has the same Graphics configuration. The error you see, is that just in AutoCAD? If you check your graphics Performance in AutoCAD, which Video Card is it showing? Is it the Intel or the AMD?

Download a copy of Macrium Reflect Free and make an image of your hard drive onto an external drive. It's really easy to do (there are YouTube videos if you search) and it works flawlessly if you have to reset back to 8.1. Windows 10 does have the ability to roll back built into it, but Macrium is just another piece of insurance and it works perfect (I've done it a few times).

I took a machine running Vista 32 bit and AutoCad 2007. I did a custom install of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit in place. Then I used PCmover to move all my programs that were on Vista to the new install. I then let Windows 7 Pro get all it's updates from Microsoft (around 224 updates). After that I did the free upgrade to Windows 10 Pro 64 bit and Autocad 2007 runs fine on that machine. I did not have to reinstall or nothing. It runs without a hitch.

Well, I did it. Thank you all for your info. On initial check everything on AutoCAD 2014 works on Windows 10 from a Windows 8 upgrade, even the help menu since I was advised ahead of time and set chrome as my default browser. Maybe I was overly cautious and making much ado about nothing but it seems that since 2014 was designed for windows 8, even with out being supported, it's close enough that it works seamlessly in the new OS. I'm sure from what I've been reading that having it pre-installed on it's native OS makes the difference, I'll keep you advised if any issues pop up during production usage.

Sometimes, and very much depending on which version of Windows 10 (Anniversary update, Creators update, Fall Creators update, ...) ... and the problem is not just AutoCAD start, it's sometimes the licensing service which has issues.

So from my point of view: if you are working in a professional environment and you need AutoCAD to get your daily job done DO NOT update to Windows 10 (or udpate AutoCAD). Every single update (also small updates) might break it's functionality and you can't do your work.

I've read comments by a couple of people that have AutoCAD2015 running on Win10 without issue... the initial reports are the Win10 is much faster than Win8/8.1 I'm pretty sure AutoCAD2014 will never be "officially" supported on Win10, but I wouldn't be surprised if it works just fine.

What I had read is that Windows 10 will be a free upgrade from Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 for a year. After that, they will charge for it. I think this is where the confusion of it being subscription-based came in. I think it's still going to be a stand-alone install like it has always been.

Thanks for all the input. I needed to upgrade my computer and Autocad in 2014. Love the Autocad, hate windows 8.1 and have been waiting for a replacement ever since. I agree from what I've read that for the first year, most of windows 8 owners (except for Enterprise) will be able to upgrade for free. After that ypu will need to pay for the upgrade but it will not be subscription based.

What I am hoping is that Autodesk will release updates to deal with compatibility issues that may crop up. I didn't want to upgrade my Autocad until windows came out with an OS that made sense to run on a PC. What has me concerned is the emails that I have received stating "beginning February 1st of 2015 license upgrades from previous releases not on subscription will no longer be available for purchase." I have not checked yet to find out exactly what that means. Does that mean from here on out to upgrade to a newer version you have to pay full price?

Prior experience suggests that there _may_ be discount trade-ins offered at some point in time to get a certain amount off full retail if you buy a new version AND go on subscription, but certainly no guarantees.

How can a customer get current if they have an older version of software after February 1, 2015?

Customers who wish to use the latest release after February 1, 2015 will have the option to purchase the latest version at SRP (Suggested Retail Price).

My company recently upgraded to Windows 7 and 10. I cannot get AutoCAD 2000 to install on the Windows 10 machine. Is there any easy solution for this problem that isn't going to cost our company a lot of money for an upgrade?

AutoCAD 2000 is not supported to run under Windows 10 and most likely you will have to go this route in order for it to work. Also AutoCAD 2000 was released 17 years ago.. Did you assume a 17 yr old application was just going to run on a new operating system? Did anybody test drive this before going to Windows 10?

Hello. This is a really old install. This is 18 years out of development and the operating system it was designed for was discontinued by Microsoft some time ago. If you could get it installed, I imagine you would have difficulty activating it as well. We support the current version and three back, so this is really pretty far outside what we normally see.

Is it possible that it could work on Windows 10? It is possible, if you have the install media, I suppose, but there is 18 years of development from the Operating System through the Antivirus you have to contend with.

For me, could never get Windows 95 to work, one crash after another, 98SE finally got it right, but this was four years after 98 was introduced. 2000, Mellium, and Vista were bad jokes. Took them about four years to get XP working with service pack 3, AutoCad 2000 ran well and still had a parallel port for my plotter with the correct drivers.

But sure a down turn with 98SE, could run both my DOS and Windows programs on it, but completely worthless on the internet today. Windows 7, is kind of okay, runs most of my old software with Microsoft compatibility. Manage to run AutoCad 2000 on it, by installing it directly off my old hard drive, but have to hit of all things, acl1st15.dll to open it. Copied the Autodesk Shared directory to the Program x86 Common directory, leaving off other details, did not take notes, not even sure how I got here.

Just went back to my old 98SE box, and deleted all the browsers and anti virus from it, don't even plug it in, works great with my plotter. If I have to email a *.dwg it still has a floppy, do have an IBM floppy that works just fine with a USB plug on it. One other change, works perfectly fine with a hundred buck LED monitor. Still have my 21 inch Viewsonic, but getting old, almost breaks my back when I try to lift it.
