INITIAL STEPS
Sensible and robust financial projections will need to be included as
part of the Business Plan presented to the University. These will need
to demonstrate the financial viability of the club should the business
be reopened. This will involve profit and loss statements/balance
sheets and cash flow forecasts together with details of the likely
initial funding required.
ONGOING
One of the main roles of the Treasurer (me) is to ensure that
management accounts are prepared promptly and accurately and I intend
to put in place sufficient accounting systems and controls to enable
these to be produced.
I have spent over 20 years as a chartered accountant, mainly working
in audit and accountancy, so my experience will be put to good use!

I'm willing to help. I can provide detailed information about the
financial systems and procedures that were in place in the 1980s. I'm
not saying that they should all be re-adopted as they were, but they
did work. Many of course were standard procedure in the licensed
trade. I also have other relevant knowledge and experience, but I
won't bore people with that here (yet).

I don't have the time to do much. However, as a former Hon Treas,
I'll offer you the limited help I can give. I also know of another
former Hon Treas who will say the same - and who will be far more help
than me.
Just posting to note my interest, as it were. As has been mentioned
before I think we'll have a fair bit of crossover between our sub-
committees, reckon it'd be profitable to get together to rough out
some best practice docs?
Cheers,
