Hey all, as we now have a new CoM I think it is worth while
consolidating the little information we have available to us so that
we can extract from it what we can.

With this in mind I would appreciate it if people would indicate here
if they (or others who are not members of this website) have documents
or data directly pertinent to the Club, either in terms of historical
records or with regard to recent 'Save The Club' activities.

The Exec can then get in touch and begin a stockpile of such goodies.

Thanks

Hi S,

Could you please list the names of the new Exec for those of us who
couldn't make it to the EGM? I'm sure a summary of the meeting is
forthcoming, but these basic data would be a good start.

Thanks in advance,

Josh

Re post from another thread:

President:  Seamus Bates
Hon sec: Michael Comerford
Treasuror: Mhairy McDonald

Ordinary Members I may have missed some:
Xuan-Linh Labbe
Omar Kooheji
Lynn McBurney
Tom Coles
Sara Thomas
Norman Gray
Eileen Boyle
Gordy ( Can't find his surname)

I think there were two others but I unfortunately I don't have eidetic memory... (I actually just copied their names from a previous post)

On the most part it's people who have been vocal here and on facebook, everyone brings something  which is good. We've also had offers of support from loads of people who couldn't stand for committee but offered their time and services in other ways.

On the whole I think we are starting off strong.

Hi Seumas,

Well done for stepping up to the plate all of you.

I have some documents from 1993-94; possibly minutes of general
meetings, definitely versions of the constitution, rules and policy.

Hi Seamus, Michael, Mhairi and the CoM - thank you so much for taking
all of this on.

I have loads of minutes from when I was Hon Sec and ordinary CoM
member. I've also got various policy documents, a guide to running
elections, HR stuff ... and probably more - this is just from memory.
If one of you contact me I'll stick it onto a disc for you. There's
too much to attach to an email.

I can also get some old accounts in hard copy, and a copy of the
refurb plans including a black and white copy of the drawings.

I may be in Uni tomorrow afternoon.

Paul, that sounds excellent, are you around Uni often? It would be a
great help if we could takes copies of these things off your hands.

Sarah, that also sounds excellent, I intend to be in Uni tomorrow
afternoon myself, do you have an office I could drop by?

Hi Seamus

I'm in Philosophy (69 Oakfield Avenue). I'll copy everything I have
right now. Niall Barr has hard copies of various accounts. I'll ring
him now and arrange to collect them - he's Southpark Terrace, so it's
easy for me to pick them up.

If, for any reason, we miss each other tomorrow, I'll leave everything
with the secretaries for you. Their office is dead easy - right
inside the front door.

Seumas, that'd be a very big no as to being around the uni, been a few
years at least. What I do have is in electronic form and I'll send
them to you, they'll need a bit of coaxing into an acceptable format
first so give me a few days.

Yeah good luck to all on the com and exec. It looks like there's lots
of ideas and enthusiasm already. :)

Sarah, I seem to have been outsmarted by time today as when I came to
see you in your office the department appeared to have already closed
for the day. Such is life. If you're in your office on Monday I'll see
you then, if not I presume I can pick up those files from one of the
secretaries?

Thanks once again.

Hi Seamus

Yeah, they ran away at 5pm and locked the door! I'm at Strathclyde on
Monday, but the stuff is in my box with your name on it and the
secretaries know to expect you sometime.

I have the current Constitution in a variety of formats and a few
other bits and bobs, including standard letter templates, sign-in
sheets, nomination slips, that sort of thing. Drop me a line if you
think I might have something you want.

It certainly would yes. At present the CoM has almost nothing in terms
of official documentation. As yet we have no idea what state the
office has been left in but I think it's best to plan for the worst.

Could I suggest that an admin on the Facebook group send a message to
the members there (directing them to this thread)? Having this Google
Group as the base for actual discussion makes sense, but if the aim is
to get as much information about the club as possible into the hands
of the new committee then it would be best to 'cast the net', so to
speak, as wide as possible

Fair point. The way that this use of online groups and such is seeming
to develop is that this group is being used both for the CoM to
communicate with each other, and also to provide transparency about
the process to the membership. Good thing, I say. That said, there is
quite a lot that is more informative but not immediately germane as it
does not call for immediate attention from the membership. I'd suggest
both what David suggests and remind people on the FB page of this
group as part of the FB status (which needs to be updated anyhow) so
it won't get eclipsed by subsequent posts. I would also post progress
reports (perhaps called/threaded as Member Update or some such) in
both this group and FB. This way, people who have little time to
follow a full process who are just waiting for when they can jump in
and help will be alerted to the opportunity, while keeping the general
membership informed without requiring too much monitoring. Just a
thought.

I'd agree with Josh.

I do not want more messages from the FB group telling me what is going
on here. I also do not have the time to read every thread here. In
particular, as has already beejn mentioned, discussions between CoM
about meeting times are maybe not needed here.

Maybe, now things are more settled, the CoM could consolidate all of
the threads so far and as Josh suggests, provide those of us who are
interested with a way of knowing when threads are particularly
relevant.

And - please - can the description on the "save the" page be updated?
Not only is the description negative, it is also inaccurate.

Cheers, all.

Indeed. The former is rather temporary.

There are a couple of balances to be drawn, including the balance between keepingpeople informed, but not posting such minutiae that it becomes boring and people unsubscribe from the list.

I expect this list will quieten down a bit, as the focus moves to the various bits of detail involved in getting the club back in business; we must of course avoid the list going completely silent.

I think we'll have to see how all this works out. I'll undertake to keep an eye on the situation, and supply any nudges that might be required.

+1 from me. Less noise => more signal.

See you,

Norman
