Dear HET partner TAC chairs and HET users,

Happy new year! As we prepare for the 23-2 proposal cycle, I wanted to let you know that the HETDEX conflict calculator ("Object Observability and Feasibility Calculator") has been updated:

As the HETDEX spring and fall fields are nearing completion in the next couple years, the HETDEX team has been providing a regularly updated list of their remaining fields to be observed. I will use that list to update the HETDEX conflict limits each trimester so that PIs can have access to as much dark time as possible. Since the previous update last year, we have gained back almost 1 hour of dark time available to PIs (with non-Pr0 time) as the edges of the survey fields are being completed!

In addition to the updated calculator, I've also shared a new graph at the top of the Object Observability page in our documentation:

I hope this helps users to understand how these limits are calculated. I will be updating this each trimester as the HETDEX fields shrink.
