Cryogenic Cup

Port Hacking Open Sailing Club is again running the Cryogenic Cup at Port Hacking on Sunday 27th August 2023.

The Cup is open to both 2 handed and single handed herons.

Race start shall 1.30pm.

Start shall be a combined start for all classes.

Start shall be 0.00 on the clock.

Scratch and handicap winner results shall be recorded for each class.

There will be no prizes or trophies awarded. Competitors will be racing for the glory of getting a win or a good result.

There is no entry fee.

The course will consist of standard PHOSC sailing courses dependent in wind direction present on the day.

The race will be dependent on the weather conditions on the day and will not be run if the forecast for the day is over 20 Knots.

Towing of boats from the ramp can be arranged by contacting me prior to the 27th.

Visiting boats will be towed back to the ramp after unrigging.

The Galley will not be open on the day and competitors will need to bring their own refreshments.

Port Hacking Sailing Instructions shall apply for the event and these can be viewed on the PHOSC website.

Well, the 2nd Annual Cryogenic Cup has been run and won.

The race was conducted in wonderful weather conditions with a light to moderate easterly breeze with a slight northeast bent.

Clear skies and a comfortable 21 degrees.

We had eight very keen herons participating with intense racing during the entire race.

Congratulations to David Johnson in Chicken Dinner on his 1st win at the Cup equaling Paul Armstrong the 2nd, both now having shared the honor.

Also, congratulation to Russell Sullivan in Rogue One for staying on the heels of David and winning the race on handicap.

The placings were:

Scratch - 1st Chicken Dinner, 2nd Rogue One, 3rd Heronasaurus, 4th Flat Chat, 5th Game On, 6th Simply the Geoff, 7th Grey Pearl, 8th Radar

Handicap - 1st Rogue One, 2nd Chicken Dinner, 3rd Game On, 4th Simply the Geoff, 5th Radar, 6th Grey Pearl, 7th Heronasauras, 8th Flat Chat

Congratulation to all competitors and thanks to the support crew from the club that allowed the day to take place.
